Catalytic converters were stolen off my truck and I took it here for new converters to be installed and to get the engine light turned off. The owner insisted to replace the converters that were still on the car because it was the only way to get the light off, so he said. It went from being a 500.00 job to 1500.00....a couple weeks later the light comes back on and we take it back. He says they do not guarantee their work or that they can fix engine lights relating to the catalytic converters (the opposite of what they told me before they took my money) and he says the cats are working....they are not. I took it to a different muffler shop and they said they these are definitely the wrong converters for a pre-1995 truck not a **** a ******* and that they will never work on this car. The cost to fix the shoddy work they did here is $2400. I can supply additional documentation if needed.

Business Response /* (1000, 15, 2021/12/07) */ I, **** ******* owner of A&A Mufflers, am responding to each of your concerns and statements as to how things played out. I never spoke to you ***** *****, I spoke to ***** ******* When ***** ****** first showed up to my business he stated that the catalytic converters were stolen off the vehicle and he wanted to get that fixed, so we looked at the vehicle and noticed that there was no catalytic converters left under your vehicle, which you are stating that I insisted to replace because it was the only way to get the light off. How can I insist on replacing something that was not there in the first place? I priced ***** ****** on some OEM catalytic converters which I told him would take the check engine light off but he did not agree on the price, he wanted to go with universal catalytic converters which were cheaper, I told ***** ****** the check engine light might still be on if he went with the universal catalytic converters and he agreed on that. I'd like to point out that along with not having any catalytic converters you did not have any O2 sensors either which you failed to mention, which was one of the reasons why the price went up. We installed the universal catalytic converters along with o2 sensors and the check engine light turned off, we finished the job and the vehicle was picked up. After two months another guy showed up with the vehicle saying ***** ***** sent him because the check engine light was on, we offered to run a pressure test on the catalytic converters just to make sure the catalytic converters were good which we did and the catalytic converters were good. ***** ***** later calls me stating that he wants his money back because the check engine light came on, which i had explained to ***** ****** before the job was done that if we installed the cheaper choice, which was universal catalytic converters it was possible the light could come back on. Consumer Response /* (3000, 17, 2021/12/08) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I have no idea who ***** ****** is. There was no option given, just a price, and it was not made clear that these cats would not work on our car. They are useless...this isn't a pressure issue, but the ability to reduce noxious gasses in the exhaust. These cats should have never been put on this car. We have bought the proper ones and are having them put on now. The owner made no effort to make this better and a refund is the only solution. Our next avenue will be legal, and filing suit for lost time and damages. Thank you.
