I had a Fridigaire freezer stop cooling and called GCA. They sent a technician the week of June 13th. He told me the problem was the thermostat and even showed me the failed thermostat connection. He was going to have the office order the part and come back and install it. Several days later he called to say the part that was ordered was the wrong part and the one I needed - the OEM part - was on back order until July. He suggested an aftermarket part that could be purchased on Amazon to get the freezer up and running. I agreed and asked that the OEM part also be ordered. The after market thermostat was installed June 21st. I paid $194 for the part. labor and trip charge. The freezer cooled to zero degrees and I assumed it was fixed and filled in with newly purchased frozen food and meat. The freezer worked for less than one day before it completely failed leaving me the next day with a cabinet full of melted and defrosted food. I called Grayson Collin Appliance numerous times hoping to speak to the owner/manager about some type of adjustment on the charge, but other than texting with the technician several times, never heard back from anyone at the business. I was more than willing to be reasonable about a partial refund, but in no way was I going to pay $194 for a repair that lasted one day. In a rush -in the Texas heat -to salvage some of the food, I bought a new deep freeze. It was delivered and the old one hauled off, all the while never hearing back from GCA management/owner about a bill adjustment related to the failed repair. I was a long time customer of this business, but no more. Consumers beware. They didn't try on any level to reach a charge compromise with me in spite of my many attempts.
