I had TCT come out and service my Heat Pump system they had installed in 2017. They came out on a Thursday and spent 45-60 minutes and determined a part needed to be replaced. It would have to be ordered and they would return once it was in to install it. They stated the unit could be ran and would be fine until they returned and also the part was covered by the warranty. This was a Thursday and by Friday evening my unit was again out of service. I called on Monday morning after going all weekend with no heat to see when the part would be in, was told it was coming in that afternoon and they would be back in the morning (Tuesday). They arrived back on Tuesday and worked on the unit for 2 hours, and finally had it back in service. As the technician was writing up the ticket, he informed me it wasn't the part that was the problem, rather a leak in the external coil. He also informed me he put 13 pounds of R-410A in the unit. He said the that stuff was expensive and would talk to the owner about it. He also wrote on the ticket for 3 hours of service at $125. He said since he was goin to talk to the owner about the Freon, that they would mail me the bill. I received a bill in the mail about a week later for $955. The write up on the invoice stated they leak checked my system and found a leak. That 13 pounds were added and leak was repaired. No mention of the part needing to be ordered or anything. I have contacted TCT and they have since reduced the invoice by 1 hour and reduced the cost of the Freon. They are now asking for $800.03. They are still claiming they added 13 pounds on the first, however made no mention of that to me while they were here. They also won't answer why 13 pounds of Freon was added to a unit that was needing a part replaced and causing a leak, that had yet to be repaired? Would you put 13 gallons of gas in your car with a hole in your gas tank? I don't think so.
