On July 25, 2023, ****'s Roofing and Construction started work on roof and decking replacement, and to install ***** and ridge vents. One of the workers fell through the old decking and through the interior ceiling twice. They did a fair clean up job and said they will repair it. The owner, *************************** (****), called me and said the same. The next day he said since our decking was weak it wasn't his fault and I should pay for half the ceiling repair. After some thought, I told him no, they were fully aware of the weakness. He agreed to repair it in a week when his drywall man was available. They finished the roof repair on July 29th. I inspected the job and saw the ridge vent was not installed. When asked he mumbled something about 'oh, did you really want that?', then blamed it on his supplier. They came back on July 31st and finished the work and payment was made. **** said the ceiling repair would take 4-5 hours in one day. It took 3 times that long over 3 days. I then found our furnace and water heater chimneys were ***** at the units (see photos). I was tired of dealing with **** and his poor quality control, so I called a plumber and had them repaired. Had it been winter, we may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning. I sent **** a registered letter requesting reimbursement for the plumber's charge of $210. I made no request for the mailing fees or clean up I had to do. I sent it to a P.O. box on his contract that is now closed, so it came back. I found an address online and sent it there. When he received the notice of the letter he called and asked what it was about. I briefly told him, and he asked why I didn't call him first. I told him I lost confidence in him and wanted to get it done correctly. He said since I didn't call him first he wasn't liable. He then texted and said my warranty was now void and if I wanted to carry this further in to court he is ready. He then refused to accept my letter.
