On Nov 22, 2023, A Plus Construction was to begin working on repairs and upgrades to my residence which would total $4,620. Before work was done A Plus Construction demanded that $2,310 be paid upfront- I paid the requested amount. Despite, me meeting my obligations of the contractual agreement A-Plus Construction did not meet their obligations. For after monies were paid this company and its workers become difficult to work with, did not show up as scheduled, did ***** minutes of work and left for the day, confrontational, and disrespectful. Furthermore, when I voiced my concerns with their conduct, behavior, and lack of work progression on Nov 29, 2023 this company abruptly decided they did not want to complete the work on my home, despite money being paid, no work being completed, and the only work being started being a small area of my garage(this was the only thing they started over a week period and this was even unfinished). My home was left in poor repair with a large piece of lumber holding up the upper right corner of my garage ceiling- which remained there until a secondary contractor removed it when he completed the work unfinished by A-Plus Construction. As of this writing, I received a personal check about 1 .5 weeks for just over $1,500 from A- Plus Construction which I have not cashed for it is not only an insufficient amount considering minimal to no work was done, but based on the unethical practices of A-Plus Construction and their delay of sending any type of refund I do not feel comfortable cashing this check for they may have placed a stop payment on it. Any payment from them will need to be for certified funds via cashier's check and for the amount of $2,300. A-Plus Construction's conduct is unacceptable, how they left my garage was unsafe, and how I was treated and my money was taken I was the victim of consumer fraud. A-Plus Construction did not meet their contractual obligations-I need $2,310 refunded via cashier's check ASAP.Customer response

Please see attached refund check for $1,574.09 and accompanied invoice. As stated in my complaint considering no work was done, the conduct of A-PLUS Construction and its workers, specifically *******, and how my home was left I am owed a full refund. It is also to be noted that the invoice/letter provided with the check falsely represented the time spend at my residence- on Nov 22, 2023 was the only day that 2.5 hours was spend at my residence(2 workers) and the remaining time until Nov 29, 2023 the worker(s)-never more than 2 workers was a *** of ***** minutes per day. Again considering the conduct of A-Plus Construction, its agents/workers and poor work ethic I believe I have been the victim of consumer fraud and unethical business practices via A Plus Construction and its agents/workers. I need to be refunded my entire $2,310 via cashier's check.

We were contracted by ********************** to compete repairs at her property. We showed up on the afternoon of 11/22 to get started. We started on a small repair in the garage. A piece of sheetrock had gotten wet and had discolored and she wanted it replaced. the area of the stain was less than 5 square ft. we removed the damaged sheetrock, prepped the area and installed the new sheetrock. This was not acceptable to the customer. The piece of sheetrock adjacent to the repairs had developed some sag between ceiling joists, which is normal for a garage ceiling that the ceiling joists are spaced on 2" centers. To appease the customer we removed the new sheetrock, used a 2"x 4" and cut it go between ceiling joists so that we could attach the existing piece of sheetrock and pull it up relieving some of the sag. We then installed the piece of sheetrock again and applied tape and mud on the seams, the second time that we had done this. Again she wasn't happy, during this entire time the customer is telling my guys that they don't know what they are doing and insulting them constantly while hovering over their shoulders the whole time. we again removed the sheetrock to try to appease the customer, even though there was nothing wrong with the installation we had now completed a third time.
On day one I sent ***** and **** to start the repairs. At the end of that day ***** told me that he did not want to go back over there because the customer had been hovering over the guys and not giving them the space they need to do the job, she was telling the guys how to do their job and was very critical of the work they did. On Monday following Thanksgiving I sent ******* and **** back to continue, I sent ******* because of his temperament, he has a very laid back attitude, ******* is very courteous and respectful and should be able to deal with an unreasonable customer. The work was being processed and again the customer hovered over the employees, insulted the guys and the work they were performing. We completed what we could on the repair as there is 24 hr drying time needed between mud coats for the repair. We returned on Wednesday because the customer was not available to give us access to the property on Tuesday. When we returned on Wednesday we returned to the same situation, she was not happy about the repairs being done and she now wanted the guys to repair other areas in the garage that had not been part of the work contracted and when my superviser told the guys not to touch the new repairs that she wanted, that made her more upset. We won't start new repairs until I have had the chance to review and provide a quote for the repairs.
At this point the guys had all they could put up with and I went by the job visited with the guys and told them to stop where they were, clean things up good and go to another job site for the remainder of the day.
This customers actions were unreasonable and the constant insults of my guys was unacceptable. The customers actions severely hindered our ability to complete the repairs and made the working environment intolerable. The customer would not give the workers the space to do their work as well as the constant insults and her directions on how to complete the repairs because she knew better how to do the job than the workers with years and years of experience. She also delivered an itinerary to me stating exaclty when each repair would be started and completed. This demand from her was unattainable and did not follow general construction practices, in fact her listed time frames were impossible because of the process involved in the repairs and the drying time. To make this short the customer believed that she knew better how to process theses repairs than we did and we were going to follow her directions as delivered. This was not possible.

I am rejecting this response because A-Plus Construction continues to lie, and shift blame to cover their unethical and questionable business practices. Their continued unreasonableness to do what is right and lack of respect of me as a human being,consumer, and my property speaks to the poor character and practices of this company,owner, and its agents.
As requested in the original complaint, I need the remainder of my $2,310 refunded via cashier's check- for to date I have only been sent a cashier's check for $1,574. I have been ****** patient with this business and it's agents- their unethical and poor service was provided in Nov 2023 and I did not receive any type of partial refund until about 1.5 weeks ago. There is no other acceptable option,but for me to receive the remainder of my deposit I paid.

I am rejecting this response because the business continues to be dishonest, not owning up to their unethical, unsatisfactory, and questionable business practices and poor work. It is to be noted that what they submitted was nothing new and they still have not refunded me the remaining $723 which is due from the $2,310 which I paid upfront. Considering the time that has passed and the patience that has been extended to A- Plus it is clear that they have no interest in doing what is right in this situation,they are only interested in avoiding accountable. The only solution at this point is for them to refund me the remaining $723 which is owed from the $2,310 which I paid upfront to them- which they did not earn. They stole my money and disrespected me and my residence .
