I signed my children, ages 4 and 11, for swimming lessons. The website indicates the lessons are on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for 45 minutes each, for a total of $90 per child per week. I signed them up for one week, under the impression they would get three lessons. I was charged $90 per child. When we attended the first lesson today, we were told the next (and last lesson) would be on Wednesday. I asked the instructor, Aaron. He had shrugged his shoulders, stating I could check upstairs (with the front clerk). No other lessons would be offered. No explanation was given, only that "swim lessons are always two days a week?" I asked "Since when?" and no answer could be given. So I went upstairs and repeated my questions. The person at the front desk claimed he had never worked during group swim lessons so he didn't know for sure. I showed him the mobile web page that said lessons are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and he could not explain the change. I did not get his name, but he was there from our time of arrival until we left (5:15pm-7:20pm). He referred us to the instructor, Aaron Matthews, who I already spoke with. I feel that the YMCA is guilty of defrauding not only myself but the other parents who also paid for three days of swim lessons this week. And how many other parents in the previous weeks and upcoming weeks will be scammed out of extra $30 the YMCA has charged us for the lost lesson? I would like to report another instance of false advertising for the YMCA pool, in general. One of the membership perks we are told about is the open swim schedule. I saw several parents with children turned away, during the advertised "open swim" times, due to scheduled group swim sessions. You will notice that open swim is from 6-8 pm, but swim lessons are scheduled at the same time from 5:30-7:15 pm. I personally saw one child turned away at 5:15 pm and another child told they had to wait 20 minutes at 6:55 pm, due to lessons.Business response
