I initially filed a complaint about this rescue as we attempted to return a horse we fostered for our daughter to learn on. In trying to return this horse, the owner was back and forth with us about taking it back. Her Facebook page noted she had room for more horses; however, when we wanted to bring this horse back, we were told there was no room for them to take it in. We fostered this horse under the agreement that if it wasn't working out, we would be required to return her to the rescue. She then told us she wanted us to put the horse down instead of bringing it back to the rescue. Also, she views this as our responsibility, and we should pay all fees for the euthanization and disposal of her horse. After I filed my complaint, she contacted me via cellphone to discuss my complaint. My wife and I agreed to pay for the vet bill and disposal of the horse, but we requested her to release us from our contract and give us written permission to euthanize the horse. The ower then called me in a very unprofessional manner yelling at me over the phone about us wanting her to send us an email permitting us to put her horse down at our expense. She refused to give us written permission and continued to call me in a harassing manner several times as she continued to yell over the phone. Overall, she agreed to let us return the horse because she would not give us written consent to euthanize it. We drove 4 hours to her rescue to be welcomed to a gate that was chained shut at the end of her driveway. Her husband, who was very polite and well mannered, walked about 300 yards down their driveway so we could unload the horse in the road outside their property. Ultimately we were satisfied with this resolution even after the harassment and unprofessional phone calls. I would caution anyone that fosters a horse from the Riversong Rescue Ranch. I feel she contacted us and talked us into fostering a horse with the intention of avoiding final vet fees.
