We hired ********** Vilefort to add a new addition to our house for my 85-year-old mother in April. The job started June 14. We want her money paid back to her or for completing the addition. ********** states that he does not know where the money went and does not have any money to pay us back or finish the job. My mom paid ****** by June 27, but only 25 % of the job was done when ********** asked for more money in September. ********** refused to do more work until we gave more money. The house sat without a roof for 3 weeks. At this time, we are having to work with subcontractors, order supplies, pay subcontractors, and run the build. Correct receipts of job completed have not been given. We want all receipts given to us. ********** does have the BBB sign on both sides of his truck.Initial Complaint

Beginning of May 2023, Vilefort Constructions was engaged to complete a patio extension with Pergola. The project was inadequately designed (no engineering) and executed for the slope of the yard and size of the project. The patio , in October has begun to already pull away from the home and the pergola is doing the same. There are significant cracks and fissures which continue to expand in both length and width. The pergola can be visibly moved by leaning on a support beam proving severe instability. Per a forensic inspection, the patio/pergola were not appropriately attached to the home and are now structurally unsound. Psi for the patio - per the estimate was supposed to be at ****+ tests by engineers show average psi for the project to be **** psi. The rebar was not spaced correctly and not all of the sprinklers were capped under the patio causing additional damage.Vilefort is refusing to refund our payments or to pay to have the patio demolitioned and the backyard returned to its original state. We are fearful that if we allowed him to perform the work to tear it down (it is not fixable) based on the exceptionally poor workmanship on the project - we could incur additional significant damage and he would again refuse to pay for additional damages. Estimate for demolition and reinstatement is upwards of $90k due to the size of the project. We have worked with his insurance and they claim his policy does not cover workmanship.Business response

The client refuses to let me fix the problem. *** asked her time and time aga that ************** but she does not want to let me do that
