    Our elderly dog recently had several teeth pulled and was unable to consume dry dog food. In addition to her being elderly, she is very sensitive to canned dog food and food changes. The technician at discharge told me what specific type of canned dog food to buy for her, designed for easy digestion. I did not know I needed a prescription for it, however, the dog food supply store let me purchase the food as an exception without the prescription. When I spoke to the office the next day, they refused to write me a prescription except for the food they sell in their office (in other words, food they will profit from). I expressed my frustration at this policy and was contacted by Harley (CSM) who then proceeded to speak to me condescendingly and further refused to help me and ultimately our dog who was still recovering from surgery. Aside from how I was personally treated, I have never seen such disregard for animals from a veterinarian's office. We will be finding another more compassionate vet.

    We do regret that our technician failed to mention the recommended diet required a prescription. For this we do apologize. However, we never refused to provide a prescription for your pet. In fact, we made every attempt to correct this oversight by (1) emailing you a written prescription, (2) printing out a written prescription for you to pick up, and even (3) contacting the veterinary hospital associated with the store where you were attempting to purchase the diet, and being certain THEY had a copy of the prescription so you could easily purchase the requested diet.

    We have a record of the email correspondence with you verifying that our front desk made every attempt to meet your requests within the bounds of their authority. Yes, they did need to have a Doctor authorize the prescriptions. When you made a request to change diets, they again needed to have a Doctor authorize the change. The Doctor had a full schedule of appointments so, yes, these requests did take some time to process. We did, however, make every attempt to meet the needs of your pet as expediently as was feasible.

    You did provide the prescription, however, you failed to mention this only happened AFTER a contentious and argumentative phone call to me from the front desk and a phone call to me from Dr. *******. I will say Dr. ******* was compassionate and understanding.
    However, in the end, we will not be returning to Lake Lavon Animal Hospital.
