My husband was admitted to Lakeview Hosptial, Bountiful on 12/26/23 and diagnosed with blood clots, two of which were deep vein thrombosis (***). The ** was unorganized, and the nurse treated my husband like a rag doll. She was incompetent and negligent at best as she prodded at his arm failing to insert the IV needle in the vein. She moved it around for a long time, causing considerable painful. This after he was just diagnosed with ***.The ** doctor spoke on the phone with our palliative care doctor at the VA, ************************************ and I was in the room to hear the conversation. The communication was very clear that Lakeview was taking responsibility while he was in the hospital for blood clot and pain management treatment. It was shift change when my husband was transported to his room. The nurses ****** (lead) and ******* stated several times they hadn't had time to read his chart.My husband had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at Lakeview on 11/20/23 so Lakeview had his complete file.The nurses asked me several times what we were there for and did not know the *** diagnosis or the location of both (left arm and stomach). I asked both nurses several times within several hours for pain medication as his pain was increasing rapidly. I also asked ******* if the information from the ** was in their computer and she stated it was without looking. Hours passed and I continued to notify the two nurses of his extreme pain and need for pain medication. My husband was also visibly in considerable pain. Both nurses acted annoyed and dismissive. I then told lead nurse ****** that we needed a doctor and medication immediately. She told me that they only had one doctor on staff in the hospital at that time and he was busy. Given her refusal of care, I called 911 and reported the emergency need for a doctor within the hospital. Only then did ****** run to find a doctor. Completely inhumane treatment.
