      Business response

      08/25/2022

      *******,
Thank you for reaching out to us with the complaint from Mr. *****. Below is our response:

Our business is a shell kit provider, specifically log homes; we are not an engineering company. We provide plans as a service and hire a draftsman and an engineer to assist in the process.

In September 2020, we received a check in the amount of $4,500 as a blueprint deposit to cover the expense of the outsourced draftsman and engineer from Mr. *****. At that time we told Mr. ***** that our outsourced engineer was confident that he could finish plans in Clark County seeing that we had finished other homes in Cold Creek Nevada, which is just outside of Las Vegas where Mr. ***** resides.

Two months had passed with multiple changes from Mr. *****. We would relay these changes onto the draftsman and then send the plans back to Mr. ***** after the changes were made. During this time we would receive additional changes from Mr. ***** while the draftsman was still working on previous changes. By November 2020 Mr. ***** had grown inpatient and asked for a refund; we payed the draftsmen $950 for his work (per invoice) and refunded Mr. ***** the remaining $3,550 via check November 12, 2020.

In March 2021, Mr. ***** returned to us to start again on a smaller plan with a new blueprint deposit of $2,000. At this time we were currently drawing a large project in Clark County and ran into some issues. We relayed to Mr. ***** the concerns from the engineer; the engineer stated that he would do the best he can but he could NOT promise a final product of engineered okay plans for Clark County. Mr. ***** said to continue. The engineer provided a set of engineered plans September of 2021.

January 2022, Clark County Nevada had issues with the plans and sent them back for revisions. The entire blueprint deposit of $2,000 from Mr. ***** was used entirely to pay the outsourced draftsman and outsourced engineer. We (Pine Hollow Log Homes) paid for two additional changes in the amount of $1,200 to help our potential homeowner (Mr. *****). On Sunday, March 27, 2022 we received another list of questions from Mr. ***** regarding materials that we don't provide or choose that Clark County had asked Mr. *****. This email also listed references to pages that we did not provide Mr. *****. Following the second request of changes from Clark County relayed by Mr. ***** the outsourced engineer quit.

We expressed to Mr. ***** these challenges and referred him to Mr. G*****, who is an architectural engineer that works closely with Clark County. Mr. G***** (who our other home owners contracted directly) assisted in the engineered plans for our shell package kits to be constructed into beautiful homes in Arvada Springs outside of Mesquite and Cold Creek Nevada outside of Las Vegas both of which are in Clark County. Mr. ***** refused to contract with Mr. G*****.

In closing there was a lot of miscommunication and we certainly are not perfect, however we warned Mr. ***** of his project and tried to help even when he was rude and belligerent to us at Pine Hollow and to the outsourced engineer. At the end of the day we specialize in delivering shell packages (log homes specifically) and acting as general contractors when hired to do so. Again we are not an engineering company. We sent a bid to Mr. ***** for the shell package on his engineered home plan to which he declined. We are happy to help each of our customers to the best of our abilities but we do not control the outcome of the county's control nor the outsourced engineer or any other subcontractor.
