On November 5, 2021, Israel P******* charged me $1487.50, half the estimate he gave me to do a new basement egress window. He told me he needed the money upfront to order the window and secure permits. I paid the money and he told me he could have the project done before the winter weather set in. He put it off and put it off until winter set in. He apparently wasn't skilled enough to know he needed an engineer to sign off on the project. So it was delayed to get an engineer. He told me he hired one but then never finished the process with the engineer. His voice mailbox is always full, he never answers his phone, and rarely responded to my texts. Multiple times when he did respond he would tell me about a family emergency that had postponed his work or he was busy with another job. Finally this summer he responded and said he would give my money back. He didn't. I had also asked him to also install a new cabinet in our kitchen which he said he would do. He couldn't ever find a match to the cabinet but said he found somewhere that would make a new cabinet door to match what we needed. He took one of our existing cabinet doors for the company to match. This was in March 2022. We are STILL missing our cabinet door and I followed up with the company that he said was going to make the matching door. They had never heard of him or received a request to match a door like ours. I followed up with the engineering company he told me he hired. They said they emailed him a list of questions they needed answers to and he never responded. I asked him to give back my down payment on the job and he never responded and never gave it back. He has been dishonest and unresponsive multiple times. I am out almost $1500 for work he never did.
