BBB develops reports on charities that actively solicit for general public support. Based on public interest, including requests for information and search traffic on our website, BBB invites organizations to participate in an evaluation in relation to the 20 BBB Charity Standards.
This organization is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It is eligible to receive contributions deductible as charitable donations for federal income tax purposes.
PurposeUtah State Poetry Societysecures a wider public appreciation ofthe poetry arts and to promotes excellence in the writing of poetry.ProgramsMaintaining a state-wide membership of about200, local chapters throughout the state meet monthly to read and evaluateoriginal poetry. We sponsor annual contests for adults and students. We sponsorpoetry related workshops throughout the state. Since 1965 we have annuallypublished the manuscript winner of the contest, a 70 page anthology.Every ten years we produce UtahSings, an anthology of Utah Poets. Our eighth edition was printedin 2015.We support local schools by volunteering with poetry readings andlessons. We are involved with Poetry Out Loud. We partner with ZionNational Park for the annual Poetry In the Park event where a professional poetis brought in for workshops. We partner with Utah Humanities for their annualcelebration of literature.
