On March 1st, 2022, I purchased a 2011 BMW 3 Series from Brandon (owner) at Performance Motors of Utah. The total of the sale, with taxes/fees, was $12,557. The previous day, I had test driven the car with Brandon and spoke with him at length regarding the mechanical integrity of the vehicle. I was provided a carfax report. It now appears all the information may have not been fully disclosed on the report. When I asked for a copy of the mechanical inspection which Brandon assured me was performed on the vehicle, he told me, "We have a mechanic look at it at our own shop, so I don't have any specific paperwork for that." Later it was discovered that he was the "mechanic" and he sought to hide this through misinformation. At the time of sale, I was offered a very limited warranty as a separate purchase, which I declined because it would not cover anything major. Less than two weeks after I purchased the car, some significant damage to the exterior began to show (which appeared to have been poorly touched up prior to sale), and the car began to have major issues with it's engine function. As the car became increasingly less drivable, I took it to a mechanic with BMW in Pleasant Grove, UT on April 26th, 2022. They found almost $7500 worth of damages/necessary repairs. That same day, I took the car back to Performance Motors and spoke with Brandon, who acknowledged the issues (after trying to deny them at first). He offered me no recourse or help to resolve the problem. He said, "You must have done something to the car, because I would not have sold it to you in this condition." He said he would buy it back for about $7000, because he wasn't able to pay more than the auction price for a vehicle with this type of mechanical problem. I had purchased this car from him just 8 weeks prior to this & he was offering to buy it back for almost half of what I paid him for it. As of today's date, the car can no longer be driven. It's my only car. I have no means of transportation.
