On 10/5/2021 I went to Professional Dental in Layton and was told I needed a root canal. I asked how much it would cost to ensure it was within my budget and was told my total out of pocket expense for the procedure would be $150.00 for deposit (paid 10/05/2021) and $600.00 on the day of the root canal (paid 10/07/2021) for a total of $750.00. Over eight months later on 6/14/2022, Professional Dental contacted me stating I owe and additional $428.36 for the root canal from 10/07/2021 beyond the $750 total amount previously agreed upon According to my insurance provider GEHA, Professional Dental has submitted five separate claims for this same root canal procedure from 10/07/2021. 1) 10/09/2021 Jon *. A********* $1,347.00 2) 01/05/2022 Myong *. L** $1,347.00 3) 02/22/2022 Myonh *. L** $1,782.00 4) 03/03/2022 Myong *. L** $1,782.00 5) 03/25/2022 Myong *. L**. $1,782.00 I am trying to resolve this issue with Professional Dental, but no one can provide a reasonable explanation why I’m being asked to pay an additional $428.36 beyond the agreed price. Additionally, why there are five different claims from Professional Dental submitted to my insurance provider for the same procedure on 10/7/2022 with the cost of the procedure increasing by $430, five months after initial billing. This appears to be a clerical error based on the increased amount listed on the later claims. Perhaps the price of root canals increased in 2022 and auto-updated on the claim when it was re-submitted to GEHA? Regardless, it should have no impact on the cost that Professional Dental and I agreed upon when the procedure was conducted on 10/7/2021. I was never informed the original cost would be increased five months post-operation to give me the opportunity to decide if I could afford the procedure. I would like Professional Dental to acknowledge this error and honor our original agreement already paid in full.
