Following a trip to the Emergency Room at the Layton Hospital in Dec 2023, I thought all my expenses were taken care of by my Targeted Adult Medicaid that covers all expenses without a copay. In April and May of 2024 I began to receive texts from Utah Emergency Physicians for the physician part of my ER visit for $1,306.00. I had never received a bill in the mail, just texts. In trying to attempt to reach them, I have called three times and remained on hold for over an HOUR AND A HALF with no answer! I have sent an email and called the main number and left a message for them to contact me to explain why they are billing me with no response. There is a recorded message vaguely referring to billing problems, yet it hasn't stopped these texts from coming.

I went to the emergency room at IMC in ******, **** on 11/04/2023. We soon got a bill from **** Emergency PHYS, PC (rendering provider - ********************* Do) for ********. I quickly paid it with my credit card in full because it threatened collections. Then I noticed the bill said primary insurance: self pay no insurance. We had insurance but it was not billed. So I called on 1/23/24 to give them my insurance (even though the count was zero). The woman told me my insurance would be billed and we would be reimbursed. I didnt hear anything, so called again in 2/28/24. The person on the phone said these things take awhile but she would send an inquiry. Nothing again. So I called today 4/25/24 and was told that they sent an insurance request to my insurance on 1/23/24, 3/12/24, 4/9/24, 4/24/24 but havent heard from my insurance. While on the phone, I looked at my insurance account online and no claims were there from Utah Emergency Physicians. I asked to speak to a manager and were told they were busy. I asked to receive an email documenting our conversation and was told that wasnt possible. They gave me the voicemail of a manager - ************************. I left a message. Then I called my insurance and they said they never received one claim from **** Emergency Physician, PC. Because they got their money, they have no interest in filing a claim on behalf of a patient.

My apologies.  I promise we are not simply dropping this issue because we have our money.  We are dedicated to excellent patient care and excellent billing practices.  I don't know why the billing on this has dropped through the cracks but I will follow up personally to see how we can get this billed through your insurance.  I will keep in touch with what I find out.

March 3-13, 2024 we have been in contact with the company. They have mis-informed us multiple times about how our attorney can help us and our attorney was told for us to follow up, only to be told we have to have the attorney call them. Their customer support is consistently contradicting itself and misleading.

I called ****** and apologized for the confusion.  I spoke with our billing company and they have adjusted the bill and are resending the bill to ******.

I went to the ER on 12/3/2023. I received a bill from Utah Emergency Phys, PC. I provided updated insurance to them and they did not bill my insurance despite emailing them (calling is impossible as you will sit on the line for at least an hour). I self-submitted and sent a follow-up email informing them of the status. They finally responded threatening to send me to collections, so I paid the bill in full ($846). They also eventually sent the invoice to my insurance, which caused more confusion since I'd already self-submitted. Now I'm trying to get my refund of $717.21 and cannot reach them. I've emailed to find out when I'll receive my refund and I've tried calling again to no avail. This billing company preys on people trying to do the right thing and pay their bills and avoid going to collections. We have a law against surprise bills in UT, which this bill was (despite going to the ER in network, an out of network doctor saw me).

I am rejecting this response because:
They asked for more details, they didn’t resolve the issue. Theses are my responses to their questions.

      1. I am the patient.

      2. I was seen at Alta View Hospital in Sandy, UT

Can you provide documentation that shows you had a marketplace interaction with the company? Attached.  This is just one of a few emails I've sent. I've also called multiple times only to wait for over an hour on hold.
