To whom it may concern On or about August 2023 Stauffers Towing located at **** ** *** *. Orem Utah towed and stored my Mercedes C-Class VIN ***************** from the Orem Police Department.......... I was in the Hospital and otherwise disposed but myself and two other family members attempted to find my vehicle including calls to DMV of which had no location information for my vehicle.......... Vehicle was not entered into the national reporting system database.......... Title and driver's license with an address was in vehicle.......... On October 4th an Officer was able to find my vehicle and upon a visit to the above location.......... The officer was told they had the right to sell my vehicle to themselves and take ownership. The officer provided documentation disputing their claim. The vehicle is currently located at Stauffers Towing **** * ******* **** West Haven, Utah 84401.......... According to the State they are allowed to apply for title upon filing appropriate documentation with DMV showing a "reasonable effort" was made to contact the owner after 45 days and apply for a title.......... Stauffers Towing was asked to provide documentation showing certified letters, filing to DMV etc via fax to Orem Police Department. They disclosed they had none and would not fax..........
