I received a letter from ***************************, a collection agency, attempting to collect the amount of approximately $1,500.00 for a business called Prestige Smiles. I have never been a client of Prestige Smiles. I ******d the company and found it to be previously known as Flat Rate Doctors. Flat Rate Doctors wrote me a letter and expelled me from their practice over a year ago for not paying for a dental cleaning. Flat Rate Doctors attempted to have me pay for the cleaning over the phone stating that my insurance company wouldn't pay the charge. I found this to be false information because I was double covered with dental insurance at that time and told them to resubmit the charges, as I was not going to pay for a free service. I know that my double coverage covers all dental cleanings. They argued with me. I gave them a bad ****** review. I also saw that others had given their company bad ****** reviews regarding unpaid services. I view this as a scamming attempt. Dental offices need to resubmit the insurance claims with the insurance company that is on file at the time of service. Both the customer and the office will get an Explanation of Benefits that states what the patient amount is left due. The way this alleged debt is being collected equals fraudulent behavior.
