CANNOT GIVE 0 STARS. I have tried to cancel when I first moved and they refuse to cancel and threatened to mark it in credit report. They do not check to see if the system is active as long as they are getting paid, but the moment you miss a payment they call you up to 4 times daily like a loan shark. They will not cancel the surveillance portion of the service if you have a running balance on the equipment that is ****** charged. I have had the equipment in storage for over 2 years because I have moved multiple times in the last 3 years and have not been able to re-install at any of the new locations due to landlord declining the install. They literally moved the in-store credit balance into a credit card and will still not cancel the surveillance side. The equipment turned out to be over $5000 and with the monthly fee for surveillance which is a separate fee has totaled to over $3000 of unrendered services because the equipment has been in storage the whole time. They also charge $300 for removal and installation for an install that didn't happen. Also they quoted at $1200 but charged $5000 for equipment that was going to be outdated. How secure is it? None because the "constant" monitoring was not done otherwise they would've notice that the whole system has been off for 3 years.Review from Sarah W

Pretty much a scam. I had some kid come to my door and slick talk me into to purchasing this equipment. He told me this is the only service u dnt need internet with, which was a lie. He also didnt say I would be taking out a line of credit either. He also told me I had 30 days to cancel if I didnt like the service. Come to find out its 3 days. So plz tell me how do u know if u like it in 3 days? So if no one comes to my house I have no clue if I like it or not. I was also told I would just be getting a door bell and he added sensors to the doors. Now I call customer service and she tells me they can down grade but the panel will have to stay. So tell me what the panel does with out the rest of it? All she can say is I have to pay over a thousand dollars for it if I want it or not and refuses to come get this equipment. I will be filing a claim on this company. Also the salesman that came to my house kept taking the tablet from me and reaching over scrolling fast while Im trying to read it. So I told him I was in between jobs and couldnt afford another bill right now so he told me I would get two months for free he sure I would have a new job by then. which was another lie. I will be taking them to courtReview from Robert E

We stopped using Vivint's services over a year ago. The equipment we purchased was paid off in March of this year. I spoke with them in May and confirmed our contract was cancelled. But, that wasn't true. I am being told we have a new month to month contract (which we never signed up for and I don't have any verification of - nothing anywhere via email, snail mail, etc). Even worse, I can't access any account information (unless I do so via equipment we would have to set up - convenient for them), and when I call customer service they refuse to hear "cancel services". Long story, short - they WILL NOT cancel anything - not even the month to month contract they started on their own accord. The only way I was able to part ways was to dispute the recent charges with my bank, and cancel the debit card I had on file so they can't charge it again in the future. The irony of a home security company stealing from you....They don't even deserve the one star I gave them. Buyer BEWARE.Review from Jay G

I am not surprised about the poor customer review rating. The system is overpriced, dealing with customer service is a classic runaround. I canceled the system after a lot of back and forth over discounts. My issue is with the technician removing the equipment, he couldnt reconnect the old doorbell. The installer said it would be no problem the old wire could be reconnected. However the tech didnt bother to sort it out. So I crawled my 70 year old **** in the attic found the wire and spliced it together. Im slow so I spent about 30 minutes on the project. He recommended I hire an electrician, at my expense! My nephew is helping me install a new system for a fraction of the cost. Ultimately I have no one to blame for this experience but myself, save your money.Review from Tamera G

A year ago, my husband and I purchased a home. It had the Vivint security system in the home equipment was paid in full by the old owners. We had teetered back-and-forth whether we should activate or not. I had called several times asking about prices talking about the equipment thats in the home now mind you when speaking about this equipment they pulled up my service address. They knew what was in my home. Everything has been paid in full Done month-to-month contract and couldnt even make it past the first 48 hours. The equipment in the home was no good minute. Everything worked fine. A total disconnect. I spoke with three different agents asking for help to resolve the matter from the smoke detector, not working the front door camera that ***** the sales manager should have checked and told me that they had discontinued and quit manufacturing. That was the whole reason why I got it moving on with three different sales associates none of them could help, none of them knew why my equipment was failing. I was told that I had 14 days to try it out. I didnt like it. I get a full refund again. Ive only made 48 hours have written emails canceling my contract and mailed canceling my contract ***** sent me a message , trying to get me to stay. I told him that I was not happy with the service and that he should have informed me that things werent up to par prior to taking $143. All I want to do is cancel. I have my documentation stating that Im in a month-to-month service agreement. The equipment was already paid for now theyre wanting to come into my house to remove everything and wont cancel my service and allow me out of the month-to-month fee. I am to the point where I think I may need to seek in into legal counsel for this matter to be resolved all I want for you is to stop sending me text messages. This has been a nightmare, and Im afraid they are going to continue to charge me when I have let it be known I am not happy and I want to be done!Review from Russel R

The technician from Vivint smart homes installed a security system. My driveway camera went offline. When I got customer service to videotape the poorly installed electric connection at junction box, they informed me it would cost me $100 to have someone come to fix it. That was not satisfactory that I pay for poor quality service and he needed to escalate my issue to supervisor . He then came back and said the best he could do was send a technician on Saturday for $50. I said ok. Then he change and said he couldnt do that. This company has absolutely no compassion for their customers. I told him to get someone in upper management. He refused to get anyone else involved.I am stopping pay for this incompetent company who kept me on the line for 2 hours to troubleshoot their issues who refuses to help their customer. I ended hanging up after be on hold with this supervisor for over an hour. They get a big fat minus for a review if I can find a rating table.IReview from Gerald H

They offer a legit security system. No complaints with that. Their contracts are so outrageous that it should be criminal. I have paid 4 years of 5 year contract and still owe over $800 for equipment that no longer works and want worth more than a thousand. Vivint must benefit from their relationship with Citizen's Pay because you can't terminate your service with them until you have paid the equipment account in full FIRST. Stuck paying for services I can't receive and for devices that no longer work and are out of warranty.Review from Michael N

Absolutely the worst experience in trying to move and set a new system up. It makes sense to see 1 stars here.... To bad this doesn't drive to ****** or any search engine. My guess is it won't be found and this is just the place that feedback goes to die. What a total waste.Review from James T

This company is the worst. It all started when my contract was up. I was already upset with the fact I didn't read the fine print and was stuck with a service contract for FIVE YEARS! When it came time and my obligation fulfilled I called and jumped through all the hoops or so I thought in order to cancel the service. I spent an hour on the phone with a service rep, she tried every tactic to keep me as a customer. Then as I finally said enough is enough and told her I wanted it cancel now. That's when she dropped the bombshell and told me I had to email, mail, or fax my cancellation notice. Oh which, it would take 30 days and I would be pro-rated charge for the amount during that 30 day period. Long story short stay way from this company.Review from Jaiesh B

VIVINT SECURITY charged us $3300 for equipment and they want us to pay $42 / month to keep the camera active. They are a cheat and bogus company with all false advertising and false commitments. The sales reps quit the job and they are not keeping any commitments the reps make before the install.Go for ADT don't ever opt for VIVINT
