I sold my vw to a young lady and deregistered the car with the **** Zip's towing subsequently towed and stored the car. They are now billing me for the towing and storage because the girl I sold it to did not register the car. I don't and did not own the car at the time the car was towed. Zips towing needs to quit billing me for the towing and storage of the vehicle.

We are required by law to send letters of impound notification to the last registered owner. You will never actually be responsible to pay for that bill. Before we can get the title we have to send out two letters notifying the last registered owner that it was impounded and notify them of the fees. If you would like I can get you a form that states you aren't responsible for the fees. ******************* ************. Most likely we will get the title and then sell the car to a salvage company to dismantle the car for scrap.

Zips is “authorized” by Paul Properties to “patrol” the HOA where I have a townhome. They reported to Paul that I was parked in the Fire Lane. One can see from the photos if this a fire lane, it is not marked. Nor is there any signs indicating such. Zips recently put a small sign about a third of a mile away indicating they will tow but it doesn’t say where. Zip's patrolled some time Sunday 3/17/24 night or early Monday 3/18/24. Then at 3:11 Am on Tuesday 3/19/24 towed my truck and trailer making me provide a credit card for the total sum of $660.23 before they would release my property. If it was a fire lane concern it should have been addressed immediately and I would concur. The tow truck driver said I could freely park in the same place, same manner for 14 days and they would not tow it. That alone disputes the fire lane claim. They are doing this solely for money. If it’s legal, it’s legal robbery. My truck is a newer 2023 one ton Ram pickup. I will have it checked out and if there is a problem, my claim against them could be for thousands of dollars. The driver even indicated he thought it was wrong, he said “he just works there”.

The property management asked us to patrol this property and tow from this area. We have a valid service agreement and we have state compliant towing signs at the entrance.

On January 27th, 2023, I discovered my van was missing from the parking space in my housing complex. I called the Zips Towing number displayed outside my complex at 12:15 PM, but after several calls, I did not receive any sort of confirmation that they had my vehicle. I called the police department at 1:14 PM to verify the location of my vehicle. I finally got ahold of someone to release my vehicle at 1:24 PM, but this person could not meet me at the impound lot within the hour. We had to wait until 5:30 PM to pick up the vehicle and they would accept cash only.I meet this individual at the lot to find out he is not even an employee of Zips Towing. There was absolutely no paperwork, the expectation was that I simply hand over the requested amount. I had to call another individual that created an invoice with me over the phone and was sent via text. Although I felt very uncomfortable, I paid to avoid being forced to pay more fees. This interaction was in violation of **** Code in at least the following ways:72-9-603 (19)When a tow truck motor carrier or impound lot is in possession of a vehicle, vessel, or outboard motor as a result of a tow service that was performed without the consent of the owner, and that was not ordered by a peace officer or a person acting on behalf of a law enforcement agency, the tow truck motor carrier or impound yard shall make personnel available:(a)by phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and (b)to release the impounded vehicle, vessel, or outboard motor to the owner within one hour of when the owner calls the tow truck motor carrier or impound yard.R909-19-7. Towing Notice Requirements.(3) The tow truck motor carrier or the tow truck operator must provide a copy of the **** Consumer Bill of Rights Regarding Towing at first contact with the owner of a vehicle, vessel, or outboard motor that was towed.R909-19-19. Rates and Storage Posting Requirements.I request a full refund in the amount of $407.20.

I live in an apartment complex, which each unit gets one covered parking spot registered to that apartment and one non covered parking spot. I bought a new car September 16 and went into the office that day to let them know about my new car because it was now going to have the covered spot registered to my unit, and gave them The description of my car so they could update it into their system, and was told by the apartment manager as soon as I get my plates from the dealer ( I had a 30 day new car plate from the dealer) to come back in and give them my new license plate number. On October 10th to inform me my plates were in, I went into the dealer later that evening once I was off work 5:30 my apartment office closes at 6, by the time I had gotten back to my apartment it was after 6 so I wasnt able to give them my new plate number as they requested, I get home and put my new plates on that evening. The next morning I get up at 6 am to leave for work and am surprised that my brand new car was stolen, after calling and finding out it had been towed by zips towing and would cost 300$ to get it out. I went into my apartment managers office to let them know what he happened and my apartment manager says in shock what! They shouldnt have taken your car, and even goes out of her way to call them and tell them they shouldnt have taken my car because it was in fact parked in my registered spot . They have neglected to do anything to make things right on there end.

On all of our digital parking permit properties you are to call in and register for a permit during normal business hours Mon-Fri 9 am - 5 pm. You could have easily left your registered temporary plates on the vehicle until our offices opened. This would have prevented you from being impounded, as you had these temp plates registered to your reserved stall. When new plate numbers show up in a reserved stall that have not been registered with the digital parking permit system, it appears as though an unauthorized vehicle is parked in your stall. You have to understand that we unfortunately cannot see everything that your eyes see. We don't know all of the context surrounding this new plate number. To us and anyone else involved in the management of your property/parking lot it appears to be a vehicle that is not permitted.

We impound just shy of 300 vehicles from private properties around southern Utah every month. I will need more specific information about the vehicle, including, year, make, model, vin, license plate and color. I will also need more context about the damages and what property it was impounded from. I assure you that if our drivers would have damaged something they would have let me know. All of my drivers are seasoned professionals.

This business towed my college son's car from his apartment parking lot and then made it almost impossible to get back. Within 30 hours, I "owe them" $500 dollars They are requiring that I am physically present to retrieve the car with my debt accruing daily. We are regular working people trying to get our first kids thru college and I cannot get this company to release my car without talking off for at least a full day of of work. This is in addition to the hours and hours that it took to even figure out who towed it. I am disappointed that a business like this can exist in our country and I am sure that they are taking advantage of less fortunate people everyday.

We can certainly release this vehicle to his son. I have included 3 pdf files in this response. The first one you will see is a form that I have sent to ***. All we need for him to do is fill out that form and have it notarized. Once we receive that form back completed, we can release the vehicle to his son as if it were his own vehicle. I have also included a pdf showing the website provided by the Utah Department of Public Saftey for vehicle owner verification. We cannot release the vehicle to anyone but the owner as is shown on this website. You can see that his son is not listed on this site. Lastly I have included the Utah Consumer Bill of Rights Regarding Towing. We stick to this fee schedule we do not go outside of this legislation when billing and collecting for impounds. Thank you and if you have any other questions, feel free to contact me my cell number is ###-###-####.

Mr. ***********, this is the procedure that everyone goes through when their vehicle is impounded. Your son had a few extra steps to go through being that he was retrieving a vehicle that was not titled under his name. If there were any damages to this vehicle, we will certainly pay for them. But I strongly doubt your vehicle was damaged. We are not criminals we are a private impound company and your son violated the rules and regulations of a private property. He was held to account for doing so. His son claims we damaged the front bumper and light. Here is a photo take of the vehicle before it was towed, while it was in violation on the property. You can clearly see the damage was done before we towed it.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

The head light is missing, there is plastic all over where they towed it, and the car is currently undrivable. My son left it in St George and got a ride home. If there is a process for repair and reimbursement please let me know how how to proceed.

      Sincerely,

They towed my car on the night of 11/7 to the morning of 11/8. It's a brand new car so it does not have license plates, but I have proof it's registered and upto date. It's ** plates so they are taking longer to get here. I can't control the ****

This property is called ****************. It is located in **************** **. This property requires that all vehicles are "properly marked". This is in reference to the license plates and the license plate placards. The vehicle in question had only one form of registry displayed on the vehicle. It was a temporary operating permit that expired 9-07-2022 2 months ago. We have a contract to remove any improperly marked vehicles from this property and we fulfilled our contractual agreement with the property management. We do not break into vehicles on properties and check the glove box for registration papers. It is up to Tenants and homeowners to either contact us and provide that information or have it properly displayed on their vehicle.
