I signed a lease at the Tortugas property they own and had my rent raised by $120 a month after I moved in. They required me to lower my income and quit a job in order to qualify for their income restriction and mislead me to thinking i’d be paying a more manageable amount for rent. This as well as the apartment being swarmed with roaches and now mice as well as maintenance requests being ignored is why i’m filing a complaint.Initial Complaint

I have contacted the management 30 times over the last month as they have not followed through on their own contractual obligations, has not provided any documentation to me has ignored my messages and calls, took nearly 2000 dollars from my account on 3/14/22, but claims that because of application approval they are not required to refund the money that as of this point is now pretty much theft as they will not hold up their end of the process. Has had nothing more than one excuse after another as to why they have not sent documentation or the unit is not ready or won't be ready as I was only able to get this information by showing up at the property unannounced as many of my phone calls and requests were ignored. They had no problems on refunding money to me on a previous transaction for around 300 dollars for an earlier application in January that i was unable to obtain the required deposit at that time, In March I reapplied and asked for a unit that would be available 4/10/22 as my application would only be approved with a large deposit they required they then ceased communication after taking the funds from my account. The tactics of this are definitely unethical and should be illegal.
