Our departure from VPM was not a pleasant experience. There were multiple layers of issues. The first being that Jake (the owner) would not release to us the raw footage content that we owned, and expected further payment to give to us both our raw footage and our branded content such as intros, outros, and end cards. I had to go in and take the raw footage that under law we owned, of which I still only found about 80%. I also had to pay to reproduce our branded content that we owned but VPM would not give to me. Secondly, I paid VPM $5,000 to set up a non-profit, apply for the google ads grant, and run those ad grants for 1 year. The only part of that that was fulfilled was the setting up of the non-profit. When I asked for a refund for the lack of services rendered Jake arbitrarily stated that the cost of spent to set up the non-profit was $2,200, and he would offer a $2,800 refund. At this point, if any money is owed it would be a balance $200, while Jake still owes me all of my raw footage and branded content which I have yet to receive. To say nothing of the time, money, and energy I had to put into transitioning and recreating our content to minimize the negative effects of Jake's choice of not releasing the content we own to us. From my perspective, this was all spurred by the fact that Jake didn't want us to cancel our working agreement with 30 days' notice, which was within our legal right to do so. I cancelled out working agreement with 30 days notice, which was in my legal right to do so. At that point, the business refused to give us any of the content we legally owned. At this point, I am experiencing harassement from the owner, Jake. This is after working together for almost 3 years and paying them approx. $75,000.
