Valley Construction & Restoration
Rebuild – Restore – Refresh (restore, really?)
Mr R*****,
After having a water leak under my kitchen sink that resulted in bringing down sheetrock in my finished basement, I contacted a plumber to stop the leak. I knew I was going to need a company to make repairs, the Plummer gave me a referral to Valley construction and restoration, so that's who I called thinking the Plummer would have most likely dealt with this same issue many times.
So, I called Valley Construction & Restoration, the mitigation crew came out, but in the process of mitigating the damage, they caused even more damage to my kitchen cabinets.
I have an expectation that the damages that were caused to my kitchen cabinets by the mitigation crew that was sent to my house by Valley Construction and restoration be repaired to my kitchen cabinets.
Yesterday the construction crew returned to rebuild the cabinet from under my sink, without a word they began reinstalling the broken portions of the cabinet. I had to stop them and ask what they were doing, the broken cabinet was going to leave a visible hole in one of my kitchen cabinets and another portion of the kitchen cabinets that was severely scared. They were not going to say a word to me and just expected me to accept the damage without taking any responsibility.
The week before when they began installing the new floor laminate in my living room, while removing the floorboards, at the top of my stairs, they pulled out a portion of the sheetrock, leaving a hole in the sheet rocked and painted wall. What’s frustrating is they didn’t say a word to me before they left for the night. I had to bring it up to their attention when they returned, and their response was they don’t have paint to repair the damage and I just asked that they repair the hole in my sheetrock.
The original start date for the rebuild was the morning of Wednesday November 09, 2023, but come mid day they were contacted and replied they had it on their schedule to begin on Thursday. Same thing on returning on Wednesday November 15, 2023, when they were a no show I became upset and sent an angry text message. Clearly Valley Construction and Restoration has no integrity. The initial response was they once again had it scheduled for Thursday, and then it changed to the cabinet guy had a family emergency. Which one is it, they had it written down to begin on Thursday or the cabinet guy had a family emergency?
Originally, I had sent them the information for the laminate flooring I wanted which was from Home Depot, this laminate was 7mm thick, I picked this laminate was both scratchproof and water proof, the response I received was that laminate was that in their experience floor laminate from Home depot had serious defects and they recommended that I go through their supplier. I agreed so long as they could match the color that I wanted, and the laminate was both scratch and water proof.
What I learned was the lament they installed was only 4mm thick which left a large opening between the floor laminate and the floorboards. Clearly this was unacceptable, but what I was told was their estimate did not include new floorboards and would be An additional $850 expense.
This will be become more relevant when you see the charges submitted to my insurance company for repairs, I agreed to the $850 dollars for new floorboards, I couldn’t agree to leave open spaces in my walls and flooring., but they charged me for painting of my floorboards, but because the laminate was only half the thickness of the previous laminate, they knew exactly what they were doing. Thae part that scares me the most, was when they left me an extra box of the floor laminate and telling me they were leaving me the extra box of laminate if the laminate they put down gets scratched. Is it scratch and waterproof or not?
They are still refusing to make me whole and restore my kitchen cabinets to their original condition, they acknowledge they can make repairs (paint the damaged cabinets) but that won't match the original condition as they will not paint all the cabinets so they will all match. (Restoration, bullshit)
They acknowledge they refuse to match the other cabinets stating that its the best that they can do. if you are licensed and insured, but refuse to make a consumer whole, what's the point in being licensed & insured other than being able to tell consumers that you are licensed and insured, but too bad, we are not going to use our insurance to repair damages we caused.
Yesterday, Wednesday November 16, 2023 the cabinet guy said he was going to go get putty to attempt to repair the damaged cabinets, but after he left, he never returned to even attempt to repair the damages.
One of the bids for repairs was to repair the sheetrock damage to my finished basement and to repaint the basement ceiling so it all matched, ONG the sheetrock repair is terrible, they tried to repair a hole in the sheetrock with silicone, sorry, a six year old could have done a better job.
And after they left last night, 11/16/2023, they never rescheduled a time to return to repair the cabinets or the sheetrock, of finish the painting, or the carpet cleaning they Have billed for. In fact, I have not heard a word from Brian R***** or anyone from Valley Construction and Restoration
I want the almost 4K refunded so I can find a construction company who can make the repairs that Valley Construction and Restoration was unable to complete.
