I hired AV Build Utah AKA AV Construction to complete my basement almost 3 years ago and to this day, he has yet to complete job. In the beginning I felt really good about things and the progress. Afa was here with his crew making sure everything was done correctly. Once it was time to do the finish work, this is where the issues started. I referred them to multiple people and Afa was able to secure some additional contracts but some had strict timelines, I was really in no rush, so I told him my basement could wait so he could do what he needed to get his new company off the ground and running. In the mean time multiple people were sent to my house to work on the completion of my basement. He sent laborers that had no experience and really did not know what they were doing. He had his younger brother (maybe ***** years old) trying to paint the doors. He did the best he could but needless to say they leave a lot to be desired. I expressed my concern and he said he would be back. Afa did come back and brought with him other guys to complete the task that definitely don't have the expertise to do it right. None of my doors will stay on the hinges (we ended up taking 2 of them off and they are leaning against the wall), there are paint drips all over the doors and hardware (some of them only have primer on them, not even painted), he mounted my cold storage door so that it opens in instead of out (so there is no way to put shelves or anything due to lack of space and not being able to open the door), the list goes on and on. I asked for his advice when it came to designing the rooms which was my fault and I should have looked into this further. On multiple occasions I said I wanted the finish work to mirror what I have on my main level. The one bedroom has a closet that is very small and no closet door (he said that is how he planned it), I expected the closets to mirror what I have on my main level and that is not the case. Closet organizers were purchased from ********** and then thrown up. The bathroom closet has the same cheap shelving that doesn't even fit correctly. I have spoke with him on multiple occasions and continue to get the run around. Afa would never accept or allow this type of workmanship in his home and took advantage of my kindness. Now I am hiring someone else to complete the job that I paid him $29k to do.
