On 8/17/2021 I hired Dany G***** to build a deck in the rear of my house for $15,000. At that time, I signed a contract for that amount and gave him a check for half the amount of $7500. The day I gave him that check all I've been getting is the run around. From 8/17/21 to 10/13/22 all I've gotten is a messed up back yard with only six posts installed and unfilled holes with piles of dirt on my lawn and against my white fence. He failed several Department of Consumer & Regulatory Inspections before finally passing. I told him I would apply for my Permit because it would only cost me $346.50. He went behind my back and applied for the permit and charged me $1500 and then told me he would discount $500 because I told him what he did was wrong and that stealing. After that, he only paid half of the amount for the permit. Every time I would call or text him about the status of the permit, he would tell me DCRA have not gotten back to him with the information. Finally, in June I decided to call and found out he had only contacted them that one time when he paid half on the permit. He did that for so that I couldn't apply for it. The Clerk told me the permit was approved 90 days from the date he applied for it. I asked her if I could pay for it and did, and she emailed it to me. I call him and ask if he heard from DCRA and was told they haven't contacted him and last month he called, and they said it still hasn't been approved. Then he said let me call you back. He called me back and said it still hasn't been approved. I said to him you are a liar because I just paid for it and have it in hand. He said I will install the posts I believe he said June 17. I received the permit on June 15, 2022. Since installing the posts, I haven't seen him. During the course of the entire ordeal, he would respond to my phone calls and text messages whenever he felt like it. Now he doesn't respond at all. He would even show up without notice and call me from outside.
