I have called John C Flood, Inc to fix my Gas heater which wasn't blowing heat (over 66F) on January 30, 2022 and they sent a technician the same day within three hours. When the technician arrived and he quickly came to a conclusion saying the system needs a Flame Sensor and gave me a price of $439.03 which I agreed to pay to fix the issue. He charged me the fee and left but the heat of the system never improved and stayed at the same temperature where what it was prior to his arrival. When I called the company within two hours to inform about the issue, they said they cannot return the money since there are other recommendations made by the technician which he never did with me to make the system work. Purpose of paying an amount of $439.03 is at least to have a temporary solution which didn't happen. I have been emailing them (Name Bronnie M****) to get my money back and they've been denying with my request. I would greatly appreciate your help on this matter. Thank you.Business response

Good morning
Attempts were made to reach out to the customer by myself via email and by phone from our office (see attachments). Customer has a 15 year old system which repairs can be done but are not guaranteed due to the age of system. The system did start to work and provide warm heat before the technician left but as noted the system should more than likely be replaced (which we learned the customer did indeed replace the system) or other issues will arise, or in this case the same issue.
Based on his response to my email it appears he has more of an issue with the repair and estimate costs too. Our technician was onsite for 1.5 hours for this initial repair and it was tested to work before our technician left. We offered to refund the $99 diagnostic fee which the customer refused. As far we are concerned our technician diagnosed the issue correctly, replaced the part performed all the work necessary to warrant the cost. As stated the technician did note the system really should be replaced which apparently he had another company replace his system since then. In the end we performed the work necessary and provided the necessary recommendations. (See attachments)

Good afternoon
I spoke with the HVAC service manager who reviewed this call and spoke with the technician and he sent me the following:
"The customer was informed before the technician left that the system was still not working properly. He was told his main limit was working intermittently and wasn't heating properly. We gave him a price on a new system and offered a 15% discount."
At this point we are willing to refund $340.03 which is $439.03 (original invoice attached) minus our $99 diagnostic fee.

On 12/22/2009, John C Flood located at ***************NW Washington, DC ***** was called out to my home because of leak coming from third floor radiator supply pipe. This leak caused water damage to second and first floor ceiling and floor. In 07/21/17, John C. Flood located at ******************, Alexandria, VA ******* was called because now a leak was coming from same pipe this time from the second floor damaging first floor ceiling and floor once again. This morning 10/19/2021 John C Flood of ********************, Alexandria, VA ****** sent serviceman out because now pipe is leaking at basement ceiling level. I explained that this was the same supply pipe that been repaired twice and not replaced. I was quoted a price of $3100.00 this would be third time I would be paying to repair and not to place pipe. Let me say that for the first repair $1200.00 the second repair $1625.00 and now a quote of $3100.00. This would be a total of $5925.00 for repairing and not replacing pipe.Business response

To whom it may concern
In response to the complaint filed by ***************************** at ***************************************** for piping repairs done in 2009 that was done by another company John C. Flood of DC who was totally separate entity from john C. Flood of Va. Inc and our company would have no record or responsibility for that work as it was done by another company 12 years ago and surely that work would be out of warranty given the length of time since that work was completed. Our company John C. Flood of Va. Inc did preform work on 11-29-17 and quoted $325.00 to do an exploratory to determine the origin of the leak in the living ceiling open the ceiling and found a black 1steel steam heat line that was approximately 50 to 60 years old that was leaking and advised homeowner of the cost to make repairs including the exploratory would be $1625.00 at which point the homeowner agreed for John C. Flood of VA. Inc to make the repairs. Our technicians cut old section of 1" steel pipe feeding upstairs steam radiator and installed new section of copper pipe and turned then steam boiler on and checked for leaks on new section piping and removed all job-related debris. JCF provided 1 year warranty on new section of piping only and was not responsible for any piping beyond the point of tie. On 10-19-21 ***************************** contacted our office to check a steam heat line leaking in the basement and our Field Supervisor dispatched to the home and diagnosed the problem and advised the homeowner that a different section of steel 1 steam heat line was leaking from the first floor to the basement ceiling and would require opening the ceiling and replacing the leaking section of piping and cost for the repairs would be $3102.00 for new piping only and no drywall repairs. This free estimate was emailed to ***************************** and there was no charge for visit and the homeowner did not authorize or accept the estimate. John C. Flood is no way responsible for any piping the warranty for the piping replaced on 11-29-17 would have been out of warranty on 11-29-18 and that piping is not leaking. We understand the customer is upset she has another leak but that her responsibility and other leaks may occur given the age of the piping and age of her home. We appreciate the forum to state our response and respect the process and look forward resolution of this matter. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
