My name is ******************************* my number is ************ I applied to scratch pay because my 7 year old female ******** needed another TPLO surgery on her right knee at Clevengers Corner vet. She had just had a TPLO on her left in July at Warrenton animal care center. So because care credit would not extend me credit to do the right knee I found scratch pay and I found I had to use a different vet to do the surgery. I was not comfortable with this because the vet that accepted scratch pay is a more expensive vet and we have never been there. So at first I went in for a consultation using the **rays from our regular vet. And of course this vet Clevengers insisted they needed new x-ray being my dog just had those **rays a week ago from this consult visit. I was in shock when I was charged almost 300$ for the one view **ray that showed the exact same as the **ray before. So during the consult we discussed how much I needed to get approved for for the surgery. I was told 4900$. So I did that. Well Clevengers did their estimate and sent it to me and low and behold it was for more then I got approved for. So I had to call and explain this is not right I got told how much to get and your estimate is more. So it took a week for the vet to get back with me on changes they made to make it work for me. Of course they took out **rays that were going to be needed for after surgery. And a few other items. So we do the surgery. And my poor dog, not only was she so sedated when I picked her up she couldn't get with it for two days. Couldn't go potty nothing. I called the vet of course they said it's normal. Well when my dog came out of the sedation she couldn't put any weight on her right leg that they did the surgery on. Again I called again the vet says it's normal. Well then the swelling started and it was bad. Again clevengers says it's normal it will actually go all the way to her foot. Well I called our vet they said no we need to see her and I am disabled and she weighs 88lbs my husband was out of town no way I could get her there so they suggested icing her leg and making sure she took her carprofen that can help with swelling. So I decided to send pictures to clevengers and they say normal. So confused! Well we are now a couple of weeks in and the dog cannot put weight on her leg. So I was able to take her to clevengers and the vet came out to the car to check her out he did alot of manipulation of her leg and said seems to be going as planned. But I showed him how she can't put weight on it so of course he requested x-rays. Again they did one view and the vet comes in says we didn't get the view we wanted. The dog wasn't cooperating, which is weird she has never ever not cooperated even in pain. So I get charged $200 and something for the one view. Well we are now in almost three weeks and she still can't put weight on her leg and when she lays on that side she cries and hold her leg all the way up. Plus Clevengers took her off Caroprofen that our regular vet gave her because she has arthritis in her knees. I explained that to them they gave me only a small amount of rimadyl. I had to take the pup in the get her stitches removed I complained stating this has been a huge financial stress on me and the dog is worse off. Well because they took her stitches out they were pretty much done with her. So now I had to make an appointment with our regular vet and I have to pay out of pocket for this visit. Again I am on disability, and it's so extremely hard to do all this running around with the pups and I really feel taken by Clevengers and the orthopedic surgeon. My dog is worse then before. Her pain is very relevant and she does an extreme amount of whining now. And I am only giving her gabapentin and it's just not cutting it for her. I'm not sure what I want but I am really upset over all of this. My dogs first surgery on her left knee went perfect. And according to the surgeon at clevengers it's the exact same surgery. Nothing different. When my dog had her first surgery she actually walked out of the vets office that evening. She was more relaxed and comfortable. Her eyes were bright. No fussing. This surgery she's a mess in pain obviously in pain and always uncomfortable can't get relaxed and her eyes are telling her discomfort. It should not be uncomfortable for her to defecate, or pee. She actually avoids it. What can I do? I'm now 10,000$ in debt in these knee surgeries. We are not made of money. I really feel taken to the bank I'm just at a loss. And making a 452$ a month payment when I'm spending and spending to get the dog seen and pain free. Please help. Original date of Surgery was October 17, 2023Customer response
