I bought a used car as-is on March 22nd 2022. Two weeks later, there was a major engine failure that resulted in a repair that costed $15,000. Now that it’s been about a year I am attempting to get an inspection on my car. The inspector told me that my car had no catalytic converter on it and that it was not stolen or cut off, but rather modified. All i’ve done to this car is the engine replacement that occurred in June 2022. I’ve called the shop that performed the engine replacement and let me know that the exhaust is not something that would’ve been touched or replaced during their service. I’m not seeking any compensation or anything in regards to the engine but now due to this catalytic converter situation my car is no longer drivable on the road and has a rejection sticker on it. I found the inspection and emissions reports from when I got the car (the inspection occurred in 12/2021 (when the dealership acquired the car) and the emissions happened the day I bought it (3/22/2022). The emissions reports has no numbers validating that it passed emissions and rather, it just has “N/A” printed everywhere. I have attached copies of the emissions reports and inspection repairs from those days.

I purchased a a2012 ********** **** *** from this dealer for my son who is attending college. Initially the car was driven with no check engine light coming on. We purchased the vehicle in October 2022 and literally the day after purchase the check engine light came on and has not gone off. It is my belief that the NVA motors mechanic "cleared" the check engine light prior to sale. I had to take the car to a ********** dealer to find out what the light was on for. It was reported that a bad EGR valve as well as an aftermarket part were found under the hood. My son drove the car to school and immediately upon arrival has had MAJOR issues with the engine, The car is considered a low mileage vehicle because it's a diesel. My son is now unable to drive the car due to the engine. We will have to pay a lot of money out of pocket to have it fixed. I reached out to the owner of NVA with no answer. I do understand that the car was sold "as is" with no warranty but I also fell as if the dealer knew about an issue and cleared the check engine light prior to our sale.
