On August 19, 2021 i had an appointment with the PA in Dr. Colliver's office. After talking with the PA about my pain in my left knee, hip and low back, i asked if anything could to done to get relief of any of the areas. The PA suggested what she called " burning the nerve". I said im willing to do anything for relief as long as my insurance provider covers the procedure. The PA told me they would check with my insurance provider. The date of the procedure was August 30, 2021. On this date I was led to believe everything was covered. In December 2021 I received a bill for over $1251, I returned the bill requesting them to file with my insurance provider and I noted that I had already met my out of pocket amount for the year. In January I received an email from Dr. Colliver's office stating my balance was zero. A week later I received a statement from a collection agency for the amount of $713. I reached out to the collection agency for more information as well as my insurance provider. After talking with my insurance provider they told me Dr. Colliver's office NEVER contacted them for approval before the procedure. In December his office filed for this procedure and it is currently under review. ****** agent told me there was a note stating "experimental procedure " which means according to her this procedure will NOT be covered. After reading other reviews online I noticed this is an ongoing practice of this office. Several others stated the same problems im currently going through and they were given a $500 discount from the procedure which is exactly what they have discounted me. My insurance provider stated all doctors are aware of what is and isn't covered. She also suggested to file a complaint with the medical board which I have. I'm hoping that the BBB will intervene and put a stop to this office preforming procedures without contacting insurance companies. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely ****** * ******
