On June 30, 2022, my best friend went into Lux Nails to redeem a gift certificate for $80 that was purchased by me on June 24, 2022. The certificate was for a pedicure & manicure, which included a full set of nails. The lady assured me that $80 was enough for both the pedicure and full set because I asked her plainly twice and each time she assured me it was enough. On June 30,2022, my best friend went in and had a pedicure and full set thinking that her certificate would cover everything. She only got one color on both toes and fingers. The salon charged her $156, almost double what the certificate was. This was outrageous! When she asked why it was so high, the man checking her out said she used the massage chair for 25 minutes while getting a pedicure and was charged $25 for that plus they charged her $20 extra for the polish on her hands and $20 extra for the same polish on her toes. She got nothing extra, no designs, no extras added into the pedicure or full set. They also added a tip for themselves of $11 which made the total $156.00. I have never been in a nail salon that charges you for everything. They have no signs posted on what they charge for anything. There is nothing that says if u sit in a massage chair and turn it on you will be charged. There is no sign that says the tip will be included regardless if you’re unhappy with their services. I am requesting that my complaint be posted for others to see and be made aware of this business scamming customers and overcharging customers whatever they want to charge. I am also requesting the $76 extra that she was charged to be returned to her since they overcharged her at a ridiculous rate. No business should be allowed to charge you whatever they say without making you aware beforehand. I honestly don’t even know what the gift certificate paid for. I am not a person who ever complains. I understand the stress of being a public employee all too well and would never complain against anyone. Lux do better!!!!!Business response

The cost for a basic manicure and pedicure is $80, that was the amount of the gift certificate. The customer was asked if she wanted upgrades upgrades and she agreed without asking what the additional charge would be. It was just a misunderstanding. She did receive the services so she did owe that amount.
