On Monday, July 24, 2023, I requested a quote from A-Z paving for widening and pave my driveway. They showed up in less than 10 minutes and advised that widening the driveway would be major construction and would cost a lot. I said, well, I don’t to do that. I stayed, we do need more room in the driveway. They showed me what they could do to give a little more room and line up the driveway with the road. The estimate provided was “980”, and according to them, they were giving me a discount. The last quote from another company we received was $2,650. I asked if I could get a text message with the “980” quote and the guy said, it’s pretty simple “980.” I repeated, okay, “980”, response, yes. After the work was completed, “980” turned out to be $9,800!!! I couldn’t believe it!! I let him know what “980” meant to me and he said, oh no, that wouldn’t be enough to pay my guys. For $9,800 the driveway should be wrapped around my house and it isn’t, nor is it that long or wide. They know exactly what they are doing and it’s taking advantage of people with their short totals and quick service. If anyone chooses to do business with them I recommend getting the quote in writing so there is no nonsense with them. Clearly, from receiving a previous quote from another company of $2,650 made “980” with a discount sound like $980.00 and not $9,800.Business response

Response to complaintI gave the customer a quote of 10,800 because that would be the total with mobilization. I also stated we were finishing a job nearby and I would discount the job to 9,800 if we could work it in while we were that close. The customer approved the job after painting it out. During the time of prep work, before we ever started paving, the customers husband came home and asked to price a turn around which was priced for an additional 3,500. The husband then asked what the total of the job would be then. He was quoted a total of 13,300. The husband declined the additional quote and stated they wanted to stick to the original plan of 98. If he was unsatisfied with the quote he could have stopped us at that point. If someone were to upcharge me 8,820 I would not have paid them and thanked them for such a good job on the services provided which this customer did pay and thank us upon completion. There is no way we could have paved this driveway for 980 with black top cost of 5,340 labor cost of 2,250 and 500 in fuel plus insurances and taxes. We are in business to make money not provide free work.
