Contracted Chesapeake Fence to replace our wooden front porch with an aluminum product. In doing so the above company caused damage to the existing vinyl trim. The $**** project has cost us $**** to fix the damage caused by Chesapeake Fence. I place a phone call to the company and all I received was "sorry". Not a good way to operate a business.Business response

We contracted with Mr. ***** on 4-11-22 to replace the existing wood columns and railing. We signed a Contract specifying Aluminum railings and composite columns. We began installation on 7-18-22. My install team informed me apon demo of existing columns there was rot in the header. On 7-19-22 I spoke with Customer who was out of town. I explained the issue and the best course of action. I received verbal approval on the 19th to proceed with the necessary repair for an additional $***.00. The existing wrap had to be peeled back to access the header. It is impossible to remove the wrap intact.
There is no magic wand to see into the structure and If I had suspected damage I would have included the repair and rewrapping of the eves in the original quote. We provided the correct service for the issue at hand but unfortunately the customer had to replace the old wrap to complete his porch renovation.Customer response

Chesapeake Fence did not peel back the vinyl trim coil. I recommended to the worker to.just remove the nail and peel back the trim but he cut through it and butchered the existing trim work. Had to replace the whole porch vinyl trim as a result. The worker at the time recommended we just staple the trim that he cut. Very poor workmanship. All the estimates we did in the damage, the companies couldn't believe that anyone would just leave the damage as it was and not attempt to repair the damage caused by Chesapeake Fence. Poor customer service
