On 4/10/2024, I visited the Dollar Tree in ******* ********** located at 2424 1st St. The first time I paid the total charge of ******* the process was taking much longer than normal. After nearly a full minute, the cashier told me it had been denied despite this not being indicated on the PIN pad. They ran my card again and it quickly approved. Checked bank statement, found it posted twice. Contacted the retailer's customer service inbox, they told me to dispute with my bank. Contacted the bank, they showed it had authorized twice and sent me both the authorization log and a formal letter on their letterhead to send retailer. Sent both and retailer still refuses to issue refund. A small charge, but one I could not afford to pay with twice as funds have been tight.Initial Complaint

On 3/31/24, I placed an order via *************** The order was acknowledged by the company, via an e-mail confirmation, the following day. The e-mail also gave an estimated date of delivery as 4/8/12, but did state it may take 7-10 business days to arrive. Today is 4/12/24, the 10th business day and there still has been no notice that the order has arrived. I've written an e-mail to Dollar Tree regarding this terrible service and haven't received an answer. I received a stock e-mail, on 4/10/24, telling me the order was being worked on and, now, it's estimated to take an add'l 3-5 business days. I was charged for these items on 4/11/24. However, when I track the order, via the Dollar Tree website, it shows the order quantity of 24 and the ship quantity of 0. It is not possible that an order is being worked on, or en route, if none of the items have shipped. It's preposterous. I am requesting a refund for this entire order.Customer response

Now, over 10 business days later, I've still received no response from Dollar Tree in any form. I haven't received a reply regarding my e-mail to them. Now, I have no access to track any (alleged) shipment to the store for pick-up.Initial Complaint

An unauthorized charge appeared today from the Concord, NC Dollar Tree dated March 23, 2023 appeared in the amount o* ***** to my card. The last purchase I made with Dollar Tree was EIGHT (8) months ago on July 5, 2022 at their Kannapolis, NC in the amount o* ******* My card has not been out of my possession, I live in Atlanta, GA and I have not been in North Carolina since then. The kneejerk reaction from their card service and the NC regional manager who would not talk directly to me was Dollar Tree will not investigate at all without me disputing the charge with my bank. **** ** ******* *old me that to dispute the charge their policy is to cancel my card and issue me a new one and number. Card cancellation is a huge inconvenience and hardship as I will have to update at least a dozen accounts for scheduled payments. Without investigating Dollar Tree suggests that my card must have been hacked rather than a failure on Dollar Tree's part is absurd for the following reasons: If a third party obtained my card information, how would they know my card had been used at a ****** ******* in North Carolina previously? How would they spoof ****** ******* as the merchant for a NC transaction? How would they get the PIN number for the card? I have locked my card for now.Customer response

When Dollar Tree would not accept responsibility, I reported the unauthorized charge to my card provider **** ** ******** The canceled the card and issued me a new one and refunded the charge at t** ******* Dollar Tree o* ***** as they agreed that it was likely a test charge of a card number from their system that was breached. For me, that meant the inconvenience of 24 places where I needed to update my card. T** ******* store called me back offering to issue a refund. I declined as the bank was already crediting my account and the bank said if the merchant did come through the bank would reverse the credit. After all of the inconvenience, I was made whole by my bank. It is pretty clear their credit card database and transactions were hacked as t** ******* state did not have a record of the spoofed charge. How else would someone know I had made a charge at an NC Dollar Tree eight months earlier located in Kannapolis, NC? There are untold potential victims whose card information was stolen and my ask is that Dollar Tree investigates if they did indeed have a breach and comply with the federal statute's notification requirements.
