They contacted me yesterday 5/24 about my insurance that was cancelled and I didn’t even know! I have Friday off so I said I’ll go fix it then. They message me first this morning and told me they were going to disable my car and they did. Now I have no way to get to work to make the money for my lapse insurance. I was hospitalized for a suicide attempt and was out of work. They didn’t even give me the slightest chance to even talk to them. They are not answering the phone or texting me on the number she was. Please take your business elsewhere. I hope ***** and ****** gets karma ten times back for this.Business response

We received notice of insurance cancelation in the mail 05/23/22. Customer removed full coverage insurance. An attempt was made on 5/23/22 by telephone, left voicemail and sent a text. The vehicle was disabled due to no coverage to protect the asset after all day was given on the 23rd to correct insurance. The customer called in 5/24/22 and was able to get coverage corrected. The customer signed a notice of insurance stating they would keep full coverage insurance on the vehicle with no more than $500 deductibles when the contract was delivered on 4/24/2021.Thank you.Initial Complaint

The first vehicle they sold me was a lemon and broke down 8 times in 9 days immediately after buying it. I demanded they provide another vehicle that was reliable. They tacked a second loan on to the original loan essentially making me pay for two vehicles when I only had one. I have trouble believing that’s legal. Ultimately, I returned the vehicle voluntarily back in 2011 because I couldn’t make the payments after being laid off from my job. They are now garnishing my pay to pay for a vehicle I returned to them voluntarily. I ended up with no vehicle and almost $7000 in debt. For nothing. This can’t be legal. Also, their employees are rude, condescending, and discriminatory.Business response

After reviewing the complaint and researching the details, the customer is still responsible for the balance of the voluntary repossession from 2011 and Cars Financial followed the proper procedures for collecting the outstanding debt. Cars Financial received judgment in 2015 within the 4 year statute of limitations. Once judgment is granted the company has 10 years to collect the balance. The first vehicle was traded for the second vehicle and two loans were not combined. Even though the vehicle was returned voluntarily, it is still considered a repossession and the customer is responsible for the balance as well as fees and interest. Once the vehicle is received it is processed, reconditioned and sold. The sale amount is applied to the balance owed. This is the proper procedure for processing a repossession. The breakdown of the collection amount is as follows: Charged off amount: $5,553.83Reconditioning & fees: $1926.30Sales Amount: 4370.00Garnishment was granted December 29th, 2021 and it paid 1909.86.Balance as of 4/12 is $2,693.54 included the fees and interest for the renewal of the garnishment set to be filed. Cars Financial would consider making a settlement offer prior to refiling the garnishment by month end. Cars Financial has attempted to contact the customer with no response.
