      If it were possible, we would give Southwest Virginia Moving & Storage, ********** ********* *** ***** ******** *** ***** ZERO STARS!!! We recently moved across country and chose ********** ************** ******** *** ***** based on cost and their promise that every care would be taken with our belongings. It was necessary for them to store our furniture for two months. Once we found our new home, we contacted them to have our things shipped. There were some screwups with the delivery date, but the truck did arrive, and that was the best part of the story. We first noticed a problem when one of the movers carried in an antique table that had. been broken into pieces. Another issue was that our bed could not be assembled, due to the fact that all the hardware was missing, as well as two feet on the frame were missing and one was broken. We were given an inferior step stool that was not ours and the movers attitude was "Well it's a step stool." As the boxes were brought in, we noticed that many of them were crushed, even the ones that were clearly marked FRAGILE!! As we began to unpack we found many valuable items: expensive pottery, precious family heirlooms, crystal, china, an antique glass lampshade, an antique Hitchcock chair, and many other items too numerous to mention were chipped, broken or marred. The boxes were so well packed that if they had been handled carefully and responsibly, NOTHING should have been broken. In addition, at least two boxes are missing, containing kitchen items, two antique glass lampshades, an antique brass lamp, and an oriental rug. What should have been a happy move turned into a very devastating experience! This company was negligent and broke their word in promising good and careful service. We paid nearly $20,000 for the move, we treated the movers on both ends with respect, provided them with beverages and food, and gave each a generous tip. After all this we received a paltry $190 for our losses. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!

      Out of the Virginia area, We have executed over 12900 moves in the last 11 years. We are sorry to hear that you had claims on your move, however the items that were damaged that we were responsible for were settled in full. You packed 99.8% of all of your small items in boxes with very little protection. Anytime you leave air in the box and do not pack your items tightly in the box. They are going to crush. Our relocation consultant discussed this with you during your initial consultation. We offered you several options to keep your move in your budget. You elected to do the packing. We settled the claim based on the items we were responsible for. Which was a small scratch on night stand. Broken leg on bed, Scratch on chest and claimed scratch/soil on a chair. Our process of inventorying your items of all pre-existing damage and the process of completely wrapping each piece of furniture in the home prior to us carrying it out is a proven process. We are going to start a Picture documentation process to help avoid false claims. We value your input and will utilize this review to educate our customers further about the need to properly wrap fragile items in boxes so that they don't break.

      Not a good company to work with. They waited to pack me up just hours before I had to be out of my house. Then they wanted to deliver my stuff on a day when I previously told them I would not be available. I was without my stuff including a bed to sleep in for nearly 2 weeks. This company does not care about the customer. The whole operation is run by the seat of their pants. You beg for some clarity on what the plan is and get none. Then when they do decide to do something it's last minute notice. Not the way you want to move. I got the impression they had a problem with getting their workers to show up everything day, hence the schedule was always up in the air. One of the worst customer experiences of my life.
