April 2024, swiped card on washer three times, washer would not start. Had put clothes in washer, bleach in dispenser and laundry detergent in dispenser. Upon removing clothes beach had dispensed and damaged sheets and then spilled onto cargo pants I was wearing. Showed damage to worker. Contacted Associated Services Corporation via certified mail. They called and said they would refund money lost in machine but not clothing damaged as was fault of bleach left by previous customer. Informed them I had been using laundromats over 30 years and it was obviously damaged machine and incorrect dispensing of my bleach. They said someone would call me but they never did. Need $105 in lost money and damage to clothing/sheets.

When a washer does not start a cycle the customer's credit card is not charged, however, there may be a bank "hold" that will clear in a few days from the customer's account.  We would gladly process a refund to the customer's credit card account if he would provide proof it was charged and his card number so we could verify. We offered this in the letter we sent to him on 5/3/24.Also in this letter is the explanation for not replacing his items.  Our stores are unattended during the day and listed as self service and we have signs stating that we are not responsible for damaged items.  There is no way for us to monitor what each customer washes and what they wash with (i.e. Bleach, Detergent etc.).  I am attaching customer's original letter and our response.  We would be glad to refund the credit card charges if information is provided I stated, but we do not feel responsible for damaged clothes.Thank you

I visit this this business frequently and I went in one day to do laundry and put in a 5 dollar bill for quarters. The machine ripped my 5 dollar bill in half and only gave me half of the bill back. I emailed the company 3 times with no response and no response when calling the phone number. I want to be refunded the money and I would like you to make the company comply with this.

On 1/18/22 I went to the laundry land coin laundry on * ***** ******. The attendant had applied bleach to the machines I use for my laundry and the bleach damaged my clothing. This has happened once in the past at this business and happened again and damaged several of my garments. I complained to their office in ******** VA who forwarded it to the local supervisor. He denied any responsibility. I have attached a detailed writeup of what happened and photos of the clothing and some receipts. I am requesting reimbursement for my damaged clothing and assurance that the situation will not occur again

Please note that we have to use a bleach solution to clean the machines and we do this per the CDC guidelines to kill Covid and other germs.  The CDC recommends 4 teaspoons per quart sprayer. The regional supervisor reviewed the video and the pictures sent on this complaint.  In a public setting like this were each customer handles their own clothing we have no way to tell what the clothing looked like when it came into the store because we do not inspect prior to washing.  We have over ninety locations and use this solution to clean at all of them with no prior issues.  We do not feel like we are responsible for the fading on the customers clothes - this could have happened prior to coming to the laundromat.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The clothes were damaged as of the negligent and I believe intentional actions of associated services.  I used their laundramat many time in the past when other cleaning people were in place.  Only this man and the local supervisor have been involved in the damage.  There are many products on the market which can kill covid clorine bleach is not necessary.  The management of this company do not belong in any capacity of responsibility.  The damaged my clothes.  It was on video and now they deny it.  It was a lot of clothing 500 use worth.   Regards, ****** *******

We are sorry that Mr. ******* does not find our response acceptable.  I have attached the scan from the CDC about using bleach solutions for cleaning and disinfecting.  We were simply following the CDC recommendations.  His claims are that these were "intentional actions" but as a business of multiple locations, we would never intentionally do anything to damage a customers clothes.  There are many items that when left in pockets and washed/dried with clothing can cause discoloration and this is beyond our control. We cannot reimburse him for the new cost of used clothing that no one is positive how or when it was damaged.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The cdc guidelines which they attached to their response is a generic cdc guidelines for how to use bleach as a disinfectant.  There is no CDC recommendation for Laundromats to use bleach as a disinfectant.  Other disinfecting solutions are available.   I attached the govt guidelines in my previous emails -there are NO govt guidelines or industry standards in their particular industry to use bleach in the cleaning of their facilities.  It was used intentionally to damage my clothing.  I have used this laundramat prior to this cleaning mans presence there and there was no use of bleach for cleaning and no damage until he and the local supervisor colluded.  Assoc services damaged my clothing using unacceptable cleaning solution and is responsible for the damage.  I hope BBB will look at their attached cdc guidelines.  It is not for laundry services.  There are sufficient non bleach products available.  If BBB isn't able to reach the recovery I requested then my best alternative will be to pursue in small claims court. Regards, ****** *******

I tried to return a call from the BBB representative but the extension would not accept messages.  We do not have a separate insurance coverage to refer the customer to for his claim on damages.  We would be willing to offer him a check for $50 as a courtesy for being a customer but as stated before - we did not intentionally damage his clothing and we use this cleaning solution in 90 other locations daily.  Thank you so much!

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The offer of $50.00 does not appropriately cover the damage.  I propose a counter to the offer and I did reduce my claim to $79.00.  My analysis is attached in a PDF letter.  Regards, ****** *******
