Purchased the N54 Turbo Overhaul kit that consisted of a pair of OEM Mitsubishi N54 turbos and an install kit. Prior to my purchase I messaged with the chat team on the site and let them know I was comparing them to another big retailer, and that bimmerworld was currently cheaper but the competition offered a lifetime warranty on the same set of turbos, after the chat specialist explained they had a 2-year warranty, I was relieved and completed the transaction. This is a lot of money and I really wanted to protect my investment. These Turbo’s were fitted onto a 2011 335iS that ran the factory tune. The rear turbo seal failed 4000 miles later, The Bimmerworld website offers a 2-year warranty on the entire kit, like most items on their site. But, With zero detailed explanation of the warranty anywhere to be found on their website, I sent my turbos in for replacement thinking it would be an easy swap out. Clearly, they are defective, right? Upon reaching out, they told me the warranty is actually 2 years from Mitsubishi, it wasn’t actually a BimmerWorld warranty, it was a 2-year manufacturer warranty… This warranty is detailed/explained NOWHERE. This is RED FLAG number 1! This is clearly a bait and switch. After sending my turbo’s in for evaluation to Mitsubishi and paying over $70 in shipping fees, lo and behold the warranty was DENIED. Mitsubishi claims “improper heat cycles and excessive exhaust temps” to be the cause of the turbo’s failing NEITHER covered under their 2-year manufacturer warranty. This is RED FLAG #2. Why call it a BimmerWorld warranty when you’re going to just pass me straight to the manufacturer to get an automatic warranty denial? I was passed around, and instead of anyone trying to make this right, they kept trying to insinuate this car was running an aftermarket tune and was modified. This is not the way to treat a customer in any industry. Will never, ever, shop here again, or refer anyone here at this time. Extremely disappointed.Business response

We are sorry that Mr. ******* is so disappointed in this product & his experience with BimmerWorld. Below we will explain our warranty process and how the manufacturer of the turbo deemed the failure to be a product of misuse and/or abuse. The Warranty Page on our website states:When you purchase a part covered by a BimmerWorld warranty, or one of its supporting suppliers, your warranty information is automatically entered into BimmerWorld's warranty database. If you need to return a part under warranty, please contact us by phone or using the form below.BimmerWorld’s parts and accessories are covered by its Limited Warranty and/or the supporting warranty of our suppliers. The length of BimmerWorld’s Limited Warranty varies with each part. To locate the length of the Warranty on your part, please contact us. We note twice that BimmerWorld or the part supplier provide the warranty. In this case, ********** ***** ********** performs a multipoint warranty evaluation of every product that fails in the first 2 years or 24k miles of use.Mr. ****** writes, "I sent my turbos in for replacement thinking it would be an easy swap out. Clearly, they are defective, right?." This is inaccurate. We communicated to Mr. ******* & his automotive technician (who was very helpful) numerous times and we reiterated that ********** does a very thorough warranty evaluation. We made sure to set the expectation that returning the parts would not guarantee him free replacements. Here is an excerpt from an email we sent on 10/24/2023 before Mr ******* returned the parts for warranty evaluation. Those turbos are not super prone to failing in that manner unless you have a few conditions:The most common condition is that the end user is pushing those turbos too hard. Even on a stock car we have seen numerous turbos where the end user has tuned the car past what the turbos are capable of.The other most likely scenario is that the turbos have developed oil coking on the turbine side which has compromised the piston ring allowing oil to push through to the exhaust. The third most common issue is just plain and simple oil contamination. That last option is the only warrantable situation which is the turbos malfunctioning on their own.Ultimately, ********** performed the warranty evaluation and found that the turbos were not defective. In fact, calling it a "warranty evaluation" does not do their testing justice. It would be more precise to call it an autopsy of the part in question. Please find their three page analysis attached including photos of the product in question. ********** was able to prove that the failure was due to misuse, specifically "...caused by excessive exhaust temps or improper heat cycles for engine start up & shut down." Neither of these failure modes are covered under **********'s warranty as the temperatures that this high-mileage engine exposed the turbo to were higher than the original design parameters that BMW & Mitsubishi intended. This could be down to changes in the control software, shutting the engine off quickly after high loads, or improper fuel delivery resulting in a lean condition.Based on this evidence, we agree with ********** that the product did not fail due to a manufacturing defect. Continuing to replace the turbos without addressing the high exhaust temperatures will likely lead to premature failures of any turbo used on this engine.Initial Complaint

On June 9, 2022, I returned the order I purchased at $507.00 from Bimmerworld back to them due to not needing those parts. I was told by Bimmerworld they would have my money refunded back to me as soon as they have the order back to them. I have not received my refund back from this order and Bimmerworld already have the order back to them. I have made several calls to Bimmerworld and spoke to different representatives with this company who stated to me as soon as the order was returned back to Bimmerworld, I will be refunded my money back. My money for this order have not been refunded back to me from Bimmerworld. I never knew this was a company of unethical business practices. This is my first time returning an order back to this company. Each time I call only get a lot of excuses, rather refunding my money back to me. This is the worst service I have ever received. The public should know the kind of service Bimmerworld is providing to their customers. The service I have received is very dissatisfactory and unethical.Business response
