I contacted Lights Plumbing and the plumber arrived about an hour later. I showed him the items that I needed repaired. His assistants arrived and all three of them went shopping on my dime for an hour. They returned and began the repairs. There was a constant stream of complaints from the plumber about the items that seemed to be unavailable in his truck and how his assistants had not made sure everything was there. To me, this is a management issues. He could have developed an inventory and handed it to his assistants every morning before they started on jobs and had them resupply the truck and reorganize the items in it. Instead, he preferred to call them lazy. He finished about half the work and we both had to leave for about an hour. His assistant was the person who returned, and he began finishing the works. When a valve they installed had a leak in the valve body and the attempt at a repair caused other braised connections to leak, I was asked if I really wanted the valve put back in place. What? The assistant spent another hour shopping for one valve. However, the business end of this was not the real problem. The safety end was the worst. They braise overhead with short sleeves, and no goggles or face shields. They handle hot piping and valves with bare hands. I offered them a set of work gloves. They refused, and instead used the back of the glove to wipe flux from a solder joint. They do not use foil or something to deflect heat when braising near wood or painted surfaces to prevent the heat from the torch from starting a fire; and they do not use any kind of a drop cloth over water tanks or other surfaces to keep the solder from spattering the equipment or scorching it since the dripping solder is still hot. There is more work to be done in my old house, but they will not be invited back. I cannot afford the lawsuit when one of them gets hurt on my property.
