This summer we purchased a pergola from StructureWorks for $17,499. While less expensive options were available we were most interested in purchasing a structure that would not require maintenance. StructureWorks cPVC pergola's were presented on the companies website as being "strong, versatile and built to last" with color options "that last". In fact, the company sent a warranty indicating that their product would remain free from "peeling, cracking or blistering on greater than 15% of the total surface area". If this was not the case, the warranty states that StructureWorks will "either replace or recoat the defective item using the ColorLast process or will refund the money for the item". The pergola was installed a few weeks after delivery, which occurred in November of 2022. This spring we noticed extensive cracking and peeling on one of the pergola columns. We contacted StructureWorks, shared pictures and asked them to either replace or fix the column. They refused to do either. At first, they stated they would send a can of paint so we could fix it ourselves (and they would charge **). They later agreed to comp the bucket of paint. In later discussions they indicated they did not have to honor the warranty because they claim we stored the items incorrectly in the several weeks between delivery and installation. The instructions state not to keep the parts in packaging (and would did remove them), however since they were in a shed that is open on two sides we put a loose tarp over the items to keep grass, ************* from the parts. They stated several times that keeping the parts in the packaging can affect the paint and when I pointed out that the parts were stored in their warehouse and shipped to us this way, so the issue was likely on their end, they refused to acknowledge this fact.
