I am disabled. I had a flat tire on the drivers side late last night. I called a tow truck this morning to tow the vehicle approximately 4 miles from my home to a tire shop since I am unable to bend my right knee to change it myself. When i called ********************* (Tow Kingz ) I was given a quote of $***** for hook-up of vehicle and $3.00 per mile. Again, the tire shop was only about 4 miles from my home. I thought the quote was reasonable so I agreed for them to send out a driver to me.The driver arrived at my home 7:45am to pick up the vehicle. He hooked it up and towed to the tire shop. The driver then proceeded to hand me a tow bill of $******. When i questioned the invoice I was told by the driver, that this happens to him all of time. He stated that he was a new driver for the company and he continues to run into problems because Tow Kingz always upcharge the customers after picking up their vehicle. When i tried calling the company from the location they would no longer speak with me. They began texting me and telling me I have to pay the amount of ******. In text message's they responded and lied and said they never quoted me ***** and $3.00 a mile, which is untrue. Why would anyone agree to pay almost $500.00 to be towed 4 miles. I called the police to our location. They arrived and advised that this company does this all the time and that they have been called many time concerning this very issue. I was told i would have to pay the $****** in order to not incur more storage fees from this company. The police provided me with an incident report #.I would like to file suit against this against this company. I know the amount is not large but I am a poor and working man. i cannot let them get away with this as i was charged 4X the amount I was quoted.Review from Mark H

My SUVs battery had died, and on 8/19 9am I needed my car to be towed to a repair shop which was only 1 mile away. Several places gave me estimates from $50 to $120. I talked to ***************** Towing which I found from the top of ****** search, they said it cost around $35 for 1 mile towing and $10/mile. I texted the driver the locations and asked for the price. But he never disclosed it. When I met him in the parking lot, I asked the price twice and he just told me the charge was $10/mile without mentioning any other cost. After he loaded my car to his truck, he showed me a bill with $445 in total that I had to pay cash. This was way too overpriced and ripped me off. I asked him to unload my car because they cheated me. After calling back the original number, it led a voicemail that stated to leave a message for the tow trucks number. They even used different phone numbers for their service. I finally talked to the boss, but he refused to stop the service or negotiate the price. They even had a police officer come. But the police couldn't do anything since I gave the company permission to load my car. Their truck left with my car and threatened to impound the car and charge more for keeping the car, up to thousands of dollars. I was scared so had no other choice but to pay $445 in cash. The text from the boss: Total is $445 cash no less, otherwise we are keeping the car. I searched online and saw lots of victims had a similar experience (20 victims on yelp and 60 on ****** Reviews). They will continue to hound people if we do not act, overpricing the service by 10x the amount they promised. By threatening the car, they force people to pay any price they ask.Review from Mei M

Called them to replace the battery because my car wouldn't start. The tow guy spent 15- 20 minutes trying to do it but couldn't - he simply didn't have the right tools. He offered instead to jumpstart the battery. It took him 1 minute to do it. I got a text from Tow Kings manager about how much I was supposed to pay for their service . They charged me $225 dollars to jumpstart my car! They didn't provide receipts, didn't accept credit cards. I had to pay cash - the tow driver blocked my car with his car to make sure I pay. Absolutely ridiculous. Is it even legal to do business like that? How do they account for cash payments? Will never use this company again.Review from Ruda o

Horrifying and genuinely scary experience. Point blank: these people are taking advantage of gaps in the law and engaging in criminal activity that, in the moment, you feel powerless to stop. I needed a tow from a parking lot for my disabled car to get it to a body shop 15 miles away for repairs. The engine would not turn over, but the damage was minor. After waiting 6+ hours for AAA, I did a ****** search (BIG MISTAKE) and the number came up. They answer the phone by barking "TOWING" when they answer. I asked if I had the right number and then when I told them what they needed, they asked me to send them proof of insurance and they would call me back. I thought this was odd, but I did (SECOND BIG MISTAKE - NEVER DO THIS!) I kept asking for a price and they kept saying "insurance will cover it all - you will not pay anything." This should have been another huge red flag. Then another guy calls me and asks me to confirm my location. When he finally gets there and hooks up my car, he calls "*********" and then hands me a quote for over $2600 for "recovery" (total joke - hooking up a car in a parking lot on a clear day that took no time at all). Then he says if I don't pay up, they take it all the way to King ****** (75 miles away from where I was) to put in their lot there whereupon I would be charged an exorbitant amount for "storage." Clearly, the plan was to bleed me and/ or my insurance company dry until they got all they could or until they racked up so many "fees" that they could essentially steal the car. I called the police - they tow truck guy (who was "affiliated with" ********* but had a different name on his truck) got nervous but kept saying "the police won't do anything - it's a civil matter." Unfortunately, that is pretty much true. I finally had no choice but to pay the full amount for a service that should have cost no more than $150, but at least my car did not get stolen.Review from Carlos P
