I recently had an unfortunate experience with American Armed Forces Mutual Aid Association, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment. As an active duty member, I expected a higher level of service during my loan application process, but unfortunately, that was not the case. Throughout the weeks of my loan application, I had frequent communication with my loan advisor. We had established what I believed to be a good working relationship, and everything seemed to be progressing smoothly. However, when I reached the conditional approval stage and provided all the requested documentation, the situation took an unexpected turn. The association requested additional information, which I promptly provided. However, to my surprise, my loan was suddenly closed without any explanation. Despite my repeated attempts to reach out to my loan advisor via phone calls and text messages, I received no response. Seeking answers, I even contacted the manager, but my phone call was left unanswered. While I understand that not every loan application can be approved, what disappointed me the most was the lack of communication and explanation provided by American Armed Forces Mutual Aid Association. I had fulfilled all the requirements that were given to me, and yet I was left in the dark, receiving missed calls and unanswered text messages. I would caution anyone who is considering mortgage options to explore alternatives to American Armed Forces Mutual Aid Association. Based on my experience, I cannot confidently recommend their services. It is my hope that by sharing this review, others can make more informed decisions when selecting a mortgage provider. As members of the armed forces, we deserve reliable and transparent service, especially during important financial transactions.

I think this is a scam. Your premiums stay the same but your amount of policy decreased over time then ends at 60 regardless of what your term length is. Read the fine print. Buyer beware. Almost signed up due to good rates. Not now or ever. Jackie Frost

Thank you for taking our call today and we are delighted that we were able to resolve any questions or concerns regarding our term products. Our two main types of term policies are Level Term 1 and 2 which are designed to offer protection for different ages and stages in life. Our term life insurance policies offer coverage for a fixed period of time which is 18-49 for Level Term 1 and 18-75 for Level Term 2. Both policies can provide term lengths for up to 30 or more years, depending on your age at issue. The different ages for the two policies are offered in order to enable us to offer the most competitive premiums for whatever stage of life that you are in. Once the term expires, then you can either renew coverage for another term, convert the policy to permanent coverage (known as whole life insurance), or allow the policy to terminate. Please let us know if we can assist you further by contacting us ********************.

Sadly I have to give one star because I can't give zero (or a negative number). I joined AAFMAA & bought whole life insurance over 45 years ago. The only reason for joining was so my survivors could get accurate information and advice when I died. Except for keeping some documents in their vault, I never used AAFMAA for anything in the first 40 years. Then, 5 years ago they emailed me to offer a free retirement analysis. This was just after congress had made changes to spousal social security benefits. I had one question about the new law, so I called and asked the question. They could have easily given me a 2 second answer to my question but instead said they’d send me an analysis. They collected my information and sent me an analysis- and I was stupid enough to accept this analysis as correct and accurate. They couldn’t even use the information I gave them accurately and correctly. Five years later (May, 2021) I discovered that they used incorrect information and the analysis was incompetently done. My trust in AAFMAA cost me almost $30,000 in uncollected social security benefits. If I had died the next day my survivors wouldn’t have even collected enough to cover that loss. After a couple discussions with their representative, AAFMAA decided that they would accept NO responsibility for their incompetent and inaccurate ‘advice’/’analysis’. Their reason- the analysis had a glossary- a list of definitions that “may be in the report”. The last sentence of one definition had critical information that should have been in the report. My mistake was not reading the definition of all the terms because the critical term NEVER APPEARED IN THE REPORT! Their report also used incorrect information which I should have corrected and didn’t because the conclusions of the report, while wrong, matched what I thought was the case. I will admit that I also made mistakes- the most important one being that I thought AAMAA was a professional military affiliated company which would look out for its members. Turns out that looking out for members is a distant second choice behind looking out for the company’s bottom line. Sure- a lot of people migh receive good and accurate advice from AAFMAA. If you’re lucky then you might be one of them. If not, don’t expect AAFMAA to accept any responsibility for mis-informing you- it’s up to you to always assume they’re incompetent and to get a 2nd source of advice. Personally, if I was blind and waiting to cross the street a traffic light- I wouldn’t rely on AAFMAA to tell me whether the light had turned green. They’re might get right it, but if they didn’t they probably wouldn’t even call me an ambulance.
