    I was recently dropped from my insurance due to propane tanks not being anchored, they was empty due to recent use, storms, cold weather. And a water leak, that was fixed yesterday 2/2/2024. I am disabled and can’t do repairs myself. My husband made the repairs when he was home from work. I was not given the opportunity to correct this mistake, nor given the opportunity with my husband to correct this. We have had there issues back to back to back and not another in 15 years of living at this residence.

    Homeowner's insurance. So we can rest easy in the event something happens to our house. Well, that peace of mind goes out the door when dealing with GSW insurance. At this point in time we are still waiting on a claim to fix our fireplace chimney's. We had to call Sharee multiple times to get the claim actually filed. Annoying. Then we get calls from David ******, hounding my wife with questions that are all answered in the report from the ******* ***** *******. My wife was talked down to by David, to the point where I had to step in and call him myself. After hearing him talk for way too long about his 35 years of experience, he offered absolutely no help and no insight into how to get our claim resolved and move forward. He (they) needed proof of when the fire occurred in our chimney. All the information was presented to them by a fantastic ******* ***** company that is trying to help us, but somehow that was not sufficient for these people to the point where they said they need PROOF of WHEN the fire occurred. Tell me how that is possible. They couldn't when I asked. They offered to cover 1 of the 2 chimney repairs, but that is not sufficient for us. I will update this review with anything that happens after this post, but we will definitely be filing some complaints with the BBB as well as leaving reviews such as these wherever I can. I hope that no one else has to be treated and talked to like we were, and I hope no one else has to depend on this insurance company to get a fireplace repaired when they are dependent on that heat to make themselves and their young children in their house. I am disgusted with these people and their "business model", as they make it VERY plain to see that YOU are lying. Whoever you are, trying to file a claim with GCW, YOU are the one lying. Even if you aren't.

    Grayson Carroll Wythe Mutual Insurance Company prides itself on fast and fair claim settlements. Our company’s 127 year history and the fact that we retain over 95% of our customers year after year attest to this fact. However, in order for a claim to be paid, it must have occurred during the insurance term, meaning there must have been insurance on the home with our company when the claim occurred. In the event that a claim is filed for damage that occurred before we had insurance on the home, or after the insurance has ended, that damage is not covered by the policy. We would encourage anyone who is buying a home with a flue attached to be sure the flue is thoroughly inspected before closing on the property. This includes having a professional come out and use instruments to get images of the inside of the flue. This can be very beneficial to the homeowner if a problem is discovered, even life-saving. Also, when the purchase is finalized, before winter arrives have the flues cleaned and inspected to ensure the safe and effective heating of your home.
