08/25/22 I broke my ankle and went to the ER, I have no insurance so I had to set up a monthly payment when I called to set it up they told me that no matter how high the bill that the minimum payment a month is 15% of the entire bill in my case the entire bill is $1414.00 and they are asking $213 a month which I can’t afford and asked them if I could pay 25 to 50 a month they then told me that they would take whatever amount I could pay but it wouldn’t guarantee that it wouldn’t be sent to a collections agency I asked the supervisor of the billing department how that could be legal and she said that it was the hospitals policy I then told her I don’t see how that could be a policy because what if I had a bill or $50,000 would they still charge 15% of that each month and she said yes which I thought would be inhumane. They won’t work with me on a payment I can afford. And also they had sent my father 3 individual bills for my hospital bill even tho I’m a grown man not even on his insurance and when he told them that, they sent me my only piece of mail from them which is a final notice i notified them of what they have done with the mail and all they said was that they could move the final notice back I feel attacked by this hospital asking so much of me just for a ER visit when I’m more than willing to pay a monthly payment just not that much a month because I can’t afford it any help or clarification of this will help entirely thank you!
