BBB File Opened:
6/24/2022
Licensing Information:
  • Calvary Cross Electrical was first brought to the attention of Better Business Bureau on June 24, 2022. A Better Business Bureau investigation revealed that Calvary Cross Electrical did not have a 2023 business license according to the Commissioner of Revenue Hampton, Virginia, and is not listed with the Virginia State Corporation Commission according to their website. An Internet search of the company, principal, and address revealed no adverse information on the company nor principal. A viral search of the address on file with the BBB was revealed to be a virtual office.  The company has had no reports posted to the BBB’s ScamTracker page: https://www.bbb.org/scamtracker/us.

According to the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) Calvary Cross Electrical does not have a contactors license as required by law.

According to the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) any contractor who contracts for work over $1,000 is required to obtain one of the following license classifications:

Class C contractors are limited to contracts/projects of less than $10,000 with an aggregate total of all contracts/projects done in a twelve month period of less than $150,000.

Class B contractors are limited to contracts/projects of less than $120,000 with an aggregate total of all contracts/projects done in a twelve month period of less than $750,000.

Class A contractors have no limits to contract/project size based on dollar amounts.

A contractor’s license is not required for work that is under $1,000 with the exception of landscape irrigation and water well systems, both of which require a contractor license regardless of the dollar amount.

Trade-related work (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and gas-fitting) and elevator/escalator work, require that the individual performing be licensed for work that is under $1,000.  Once the work hits the $1,000 threshold, a contractor license is required for the company.

On April 3, 2023 an investigation letter was sent by email to the company regarding their lack of a contractor’s license. As of the date of this Business Profile, the company has not responded to the Better Business Bureau’s emails nor have they obtained a license with Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR).
