Summary: SESCOS caused damage to our property and refused our request for compensation. On 26 February 2022 we had a seasonal inspection of our heating unit and a visual inspection of our air conditioning unit as part of our annual service plan with a separate company, ******** ********. At the time, while ******** ******** noted that our unit was aging, no damage was observed to our unit, to include the drain pipe and pan in the attic. SESCOS subsequently came out to rewire our house during the first two weeks of March 2022. The crew made a complete mess of our attic, with complete disregard for our belongings. At the time, we were only aware of some broken personal items, and the indifference with which our possessions had been treated. We immediately sent photographs of the situation. 02 August 2022, ******** ******** again came out for the seasonal inspection of our A/C unit. When they went into the attic, they discovered that the drain pipe for the unit had been completely snapped at the air handler, which could not have happened without significant external pressure being applied to the PVC (such as someone hitting it/dropping something on it). Because of the location of the wiring in relation to the pipe it is clear that the crew was working in this area during the rewiring process. The condensation from the A/C, rather than draining through the now-broken pipe, has been sitting in the pan for several months, completely rusting the pan. Because of the age of the unit, compatible parts for the air handler are no longer available, and therefore the entire unit needs to be replaced before water damage occurs. We would not have needed to consider this replacement, or repairs, if not for the damage done by SESCOS' crew. We sought compensation from SESCOS for the damages but they state the project was completed 6 months ago, and that their employees stated they damaged nothing (despite photographic evidence to the contrary).Business response

Good Morning,
As we explained to ***********************, Upon investigating this Claim with the Supervisor and employees involved as well Our Owner and Director of Field Operations we see no Grounds for Southern Electrical Service to be responsible for any damages.
The Renovation Project was completed almost 6 Months ago and there is no evidence or proof that upon Completion Southern Electric caused any damage to the referenced equipment. We have spoken with our Renovation Supervisor as well as our Electricians on the Job and they confirmed they damaged nothing during the Project. Multiple people were in the area Including inspectors and other Contractors such as this HVAC Contractor.
Were very Sorry to hear about this occurrence to their Home but again there is no evidence that Southern Electrical caused any damage and therefore we will Not be offering any compensation as we are not the liable party.Customer response

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]
Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:As evidenced in the most recent attachment, the project manager acknowledged, and apologized for, the state in which our attic was left (thus implicitly accepting responsibility), and further acknowledged that he was unable to personally go up to the attic to ensure a satisfactory job. I agree with SESCO that we did not have any issues with the wiring project, itself. Our complaint involves damage to our air conditioning unit, which clearly occurred during the project's timeframe (see original complaint issued, with timeline of events). Yes, the project occurred 6 months ago, but the subsequent inspection of the air conditioning until did not occur until August 2022, which is when the problem was identified. We appreciate that Mr. W*** apologized (that was excellent customer service); had our A/C unit not been damaged, and had SESCO simply offered to financially compensate us for the A/C-specific damage, we would not have brought this issue to the BBB.
Regards,

In reference to the ********* Complaint we again sympathize with the Customers situation but we stand by the fact that we did not damage any equipment. We did an internal review with our employees as well reviewed *** ********** information and there is zero proof to indicate Southern Electrical damaged any equipment.
