May 14, 2024 I was a victim of fraud through ValleyStar. It has yet to be resolved. I submitted attached documents to their fraud management department. I have made numerous phone calls trying to get a disposition. I get either promised a call back or am told I have to talk to another department. I just got off the phone with the bank and the lady that I would have to talk to customer care/relations. I ask her for the phone number, and she give me the same number that I called. I need a resolution.

I do not agree with increasing my auto loan by $700 without any breakdown on how this was even the correct amount for being uninsured. My car payment is $565 and it jumped to almost $1200 that they made me pay or I’ll lose my vehicle. When I got approved for the loan I got approved to pay $565 not $1200 as my income is not that much to all of a sudden pay this penalty. It’s a struggle to the consumer and they shouldn’t be allowed to do this. I have paid this for 4 months and had to wait until I come tax to get car insurance so the payments can go back down but this should be illegal. I do not have any paperwork on this increase. What they should do is add one fine or penalty and it should be added into the loan vs paying it immediately. When you call for options they are like this is the what it is. What is collateral insurance and how is it legal and why is it so much! Yes I know that you need insurance but people lose jobs and go through financial hardships and they should not be allowed to do this. As a consumer I am getting a lawyer. I do not think this was handled correctly and it’s not right for a consumer at all. Their process should be investigated

On 7/21/22 I, ***** **** open an account /cd at valley Star credit union.(joint with my husband.) for $300,000.00 This transaction was at the Valley Star CU Roanoke with manager *** **** *** ****. He gave us his direct number, but still no contact back from my messages. The next day Valley Star made a hard hit on my credit and made my score of 825 go down from the hard inquiry on my credit that I wanted a mortgage loan. I did not authorize this inquiry for a loan or a credit card. I put money in the bank and I am not interested in a loan or. Credit card. Also the account is in my name ***** with my social security number and they made the hit on my husband ****** credit. This was not authorized and after many, many, calls, messages, voice mails, emails, no one will get in contact with me for this unauthorized inquiry to our credit. I would like this hard hit inquiry on our credit removed and for the credit union to contact me. ************ *****

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The credit union did contact me and investigated the problem on their end. I was told, after they looked into the problem, they made a technical error and hit me with a hard inquiry instead of a soft inquiry on my credit. They should not, and  did not have permission to hit me with either inquiry.  How many other clients have they did this to! Also their explanation for not contacting me back for weeks, after I left numerous emails and telephone messages, was short staff on their part. Bad business!  Thank you Better Business Bureau for nudging them in the right direction to email me to get this problem corrected. They changed my hard hit to a soft hit on my credit. Also, the reason I am not satisfied with their response to you was they denied all wrong doing in their response to your letter. They took no responsibility for what they did. ***** ****
