I called Carlotz in ****** ** today (12/31/22) and made an appointment for 3:30pm to see their 2015 ****** Prius with ****** miles (*** #*****************) advertised on AutoTrader for $16,200. When I got there after driving 30 miles in the pouring rain, they made me wait for 45 minutes before a "salesman" could discuss the car in question. He searched for the car in their system and website....the price showed $17,350.I stated that their advertised price on AutoTrader was $16,200. He stated that this was not their website and the price was $17,350! I stated to him that they themselves put the ad on AutoTrader site for sale and that AutoTrader did not magically put up this vehicle out of love for Carlotz!!Suddenly, another angry personnel showed up and grabbed my phone and requested me to show him the *** #.....I grabbed my phone back from him and searched the AutoTrader site for the *** #....it matched the *** # on the Carlotz site as I had guessed. I showed the matching *** #to the original "salesman", but he still stated that the price on the AutoTrader site is not their price!....I walked out not wanting to waste my time! I have documented the incident and will be filing a complaint against them to the CA DMV for fraudulent advertising next Tuesday!WARNING! - PLEASE DO NOT BUY A CAR from these fraudsters.Review from Matt S.

My wife and I purchase an Audi Q5 from them and felt like they respected us throughout the whole process. They offered us an extended warranty not snuck it in like most dealers ive been to would. My dad also purchased a car here because of our interaction. it was nice that they are non commission so it felt like we were in chargeReview from karen s

Extremely unprofessional. I communicated by email and in person in November 2021 to buy a **** ****** ******** offered for sale for 17 days. I test drove it and wanted to buy. They told me it had failed inspection and they couldn’t sell it until they repaired a minor front bumper crack and replaced a light bulb. They told me they would let me know when the vehicle was inspected, and I could take it to my mechanic prior to purchase. I kept communicating with them via email making sure they would contact me when the vehicle was available for sale. They assured me they would. I really wanted this car so I kept checking their website to be sure they wouldn't erroneously offer it for sale without telling me. I then noticed that the car was suddenly offered and a price reduction of an additional $*** had been made. I contacted them immediately asking them if the vehicle was ready for sale because I am still wanting to buy it. They informed me that yes it was ready for sale it is on their lot so I could go and take it to my mechanic. I noticed that the bumper that had a minor cosmetic flaw now had been replaced with a cheap aftermarket bumper that was not clipped in place (because it didn’t fit) and had sloppy overspray. I offered to buy it if I could get the original bumper, but they refused to let me contact their body shop to get it. They also insisted that the consignor was the one controlling the sale and had refused to sell it with the original bumper at the asking price but had insisted on replacing the bumper with a non-fitting after-market bumper and reducing the sale price. A woman who identified herself as Kayla dug her heels in on this. In all, Carlotz reduced the price by over $**** and had the consignor spend more money replacing what didn’t need replacing. This is so ridiculous that it made me wonder whether they have a behind-the-scenes deal with a body shop. I told them I would leave them a poor review on BBB and they laughed.Review from Steve I

Let me start by saying buyers beware!! We bought a car in February 2021 from Carlotz for our son who was getting his first car. Within a week of owning the car the entire Transmission had to be replaced and left my son stranded. What???? After only 1 week of ownership? So trying to get anyone at this dealership to respond to you after the purchase was an absolute nightmare! We bought their extended warranty through a third party company called endurance. So after the car had been at the dealership for over a month the transmission was finally finished and we thought it would be smooth sailing and our son would be able to enjoy his first car! But guess what? Fast forward 3.5 months and the car breaks down again! This time with a complete engine failure!! And the car now needs a new engine! The car has been at the ******* dealership since July now. We have been going back and forth with Carlotz and Endurance their extended warranty company. The warranty company sends ******* a defective engine that cannot be used, that took an extra 3 weeks (In the meantime we are making car payments on this car and insurance payments on a car that has been in the shop now for close to 5 months, with no loaner car) So now ******* finds a engine for us finally and the warranty company and Carlotz want us to pay out of pocket $**** dollars for the repair because the warranty company will only cover so much. So we reach out to Carlotz since they sold us this lemon. I speak to Chad W****** on the phone. He is their customer care manager. Customer care? This guy does not care about anything! If customer care means never returning a customers voicemail or promising to call back when he tells you but doesn't then you have the right Man for the job! This guy should not be in this position. He told me Carlotz will not help me resolve this issue even they though sold me this car that has been in the Shop for about 5 months now with the 2 biggest repairs a car can have. I am very disappointed with the Lack of Service from Carlotz and the quality of vehicle they have sold us! I feel we were ripped off and left hanging. If anyone at this dealerships does care please feel free to reach out!Car Lotz Response
