Please help me and my husband who are in our 70's with a tree service company. On October 26 2023 owner Kenneth Grimes of Climbers Tree Service at the Lake came out and gave my husband the attached estimate to trim a tree in our backyard. He asked my husband for a $250 down payment on the job, which after the fact doesn’t make any sense to me as he didn’t need to purchase any materials in advance. I found out from the bank that he cashed our check right away. Kenneth told him he would be at our house to do the work on November 2, 2023. As the day went on we didn't hear from him. We called the next few days in a row, leaving a message each time, and didn't receive a callback. This went on for weeks and then months with no answer and no callback. He is not returning our calls or calling us. He finally answered 2 times near Thanksgiving &said he had equipment issues and would be out the following two days AND he never called or showed up. Equipment issues is no excuse to not talk to us all along. My husband meant to tell him in that call to give us our money back and when he tried to call right back, Kenneth Grimes didn't answer. We started calling again every other day and no answer. We are lowincome senior citizens with social security as our only income. We do not want any service from him we want our $250 returned to us. It was also suggested that we file a police report to get our money back, but before we do that and reach out to ******** and other media we wanted to see if you can help us get our money back. The bank said they can't help us because we paid with a check & they recommended the police report and **. I can't believe he would take money from us and not have offered himself to refund it after he was having equipment issues. He couldn't keep us informed for 3 months. We can't get in touch with him to ask for our $250 back & that is all we want. No service from him just our money for services that were supposed to be rendered almost 3 months ago.
