Athene's Broker mistated the product, mentioned it would not reduce in Value, rather remain at whatever the Rise was due to Market and continue upward locking in Gains. Contrary, there were Montllt Charges of **** * Qtly Charges + Internal Transfer Fees. in my humble opinion a Real Rip-Off, I would never ever conscider Placing another $ with Athene Insurance & Annuity. I called their Customer service & finally took another $*** Hit when I withdrew rather than be saddled with another $*** in withrdrawal fees etc. I conscider this entire Business and broker not trust worthy.Athene Annuity Response

On July 11, 2023 my divorce was finalized. As a part of the divorce settlement, there was a **** order that stated that I should receive **% of my ex husband's two pensions (one with ******** *** *** **** ***************). Also, stated in the divorce decree was that a company called ****, Inc. would handle preparation of the necessar* **** documents and send them to the companies involved. The ******** **** was handled smoothly and final approval was in January with payments that started at the beginning of February. *** *************** *******, which is now being administered by ATHENE in THE ********** ****S still has not even produced the draft that must go to the court for final approval. My ex-husband, the contact at **** ***** ****, and I have all made numerous phone calls to Athene. Both my ex-husband and I have received many promises of callbacks from Athene, to get information on where in the process the production of the draft stands, and NOT ONCE have they called back when they said they would. In a letter dated January 10th, Athene requested 2 revisions to the draft. L*** ** **** sent back the revised draft on January 25th. On February 22nd, I called Athene and confirmed that they had received the revised draft on January 25th. Since that time, I have made numerous phone calls, get conflicting information about the status of the draft and deal with a different rep every time I call. The only way I can contact them is through a phone call. The representatives never give their last name and state that there is no email through which to contact them. Both my ex-husband and I have been told on at least two occasions that the ticket (the way in which they track phone calls and document progress of the draft completion) was "accidentally" closed and that they would re-open it. Can someone please help me get some answers as it has now been 3 1/2 months since they received the draft revision and there appears to have been no progress in reaching it's completion.Athene Annuity Response

This company is terrible. Their people don't listen. They can't even correct a phone number. I have always had direct deposit. They cancelled my direct deposit and sent me a check instead when I was out of town. I drove 5 hours to get it and deposited it to my bank. Then, when I asked for them to correct the mistake and direct deposit my money. They cancelled the check that I deposited without telling me, leaving me overdrawn $***! And sent me another check which I will again have to drive 5 hours to get. My husband is getting cancer treatment out of town so we are not home. This I explained to their reps over and over. That's why I've always had direct deposit for circumstances as these. They don't allow anyone to speak to a supervisor who might be able to help. They promise callbacks which 3 times did not happen. I am absolutely disgusted. I will be reporting them and leaving bad reviews everywhere I can.Athene Annuity Response

I have been attempting to cash out my annuity with this business since November 2023 - it is now April 2024, and I have no resolution. I have called, open tickets, escalated complaints and yet I still do not have my money. The call center employees know nothing and I am given a different excuse and timeline each time I call to cash out my account. I have loaded all documents they have asked yet there is always another reason why it is taking more time. I have asked for calls back or emails and do not receive them. I have to call them and then get routed through the automated system to explain my story over and over. Its by far the worst customer experience and service ever received in my life. If anyone has funds here, I would move them. This is not just a company with bad customer service. This is a company this is withholding my money and not turning it over. This is an abysmal excuse for a company! Not needing to rehash what others have written (see other comments), I'll just add that they haven't been able to set up electronic customer access to accounts, even though they've been "working on it " for years! Although you can visit the website and go to customer login where your user name and password are requested, they're rejected because the bozos don't have the service. No wonder they are not BBB accredited. I have worked in a professional environment for over 40 years and have never dealt with such incompetence. I have been trying to resolve back pay owed to me for retirement for a year and a half. I have sent the information to them 5 times and they claim they didn't receive the first 2 faxes and the 2 sets of hard copies I mailed. Finally I was told the check was issued and mailed. I had requested a direct deposit and completed the form, but was told they could not process for a month. Two weeks later and I still don't have a check and I am told they need 3 days to research. In my experience, stop payment can be issued and a second check sent overnight, resolving the issue same day. I have confirmation that they have my direct deposit information, but they tell me they cannot do so, they must issue a check. It's useless to speak with a supervisor, they are as incompetent as the call center reps. The reps, nor the supervisor will provide me with contact information for their accounting department or the person overseeing the customer service reps. If I could give zero stars I would! My father passed away in 2015. He worked for a large defense contracting company and part of his pension contract was 10 years continued benefits split between his successors (my brother and I). This was in turn given to Athene who then proceeded to cut benefits after only 7 years to a very marginal amount. Contact with the company only received a run-around. I called the original company's retirement center but they would just send me back to athene. Now, I call them just to have my address changed, and have the letter sent to me cutting off my benefits and even though their phone system recognizes my phone number, they say my name is no longer on file. I don't know whats more sick, that they steal from people's heirs or that they think they are doing the right thing.Review from susanne c

I had requested Athene close my annuity and send me a check for what is in the account minus their high surrender charges. I was told on 12/01/22 that I would get the check via fed ex on 12/08/22. No check arrived. I called them on 12/09/22 and was told they couldn't process my request because it was over $***. No one from Athene made an effort to correct their mistake. Since it was their mistake, I asked that they expedite this and was told they would do so. I was told that I would receive my check by Wednesday, 12/14/22. I have called them every day and just got the runaround. Their customer service, though very nice, is entirely ineffective. They have told me for three days that my account is "in review," and the check has not been written...They should not promise to do what they have no intention of doing. They have a blatant disregard for their client's time and money. This should not be acceptable.Review from Linda Q

I asked Athene when I got two packets of paperwork if I need to fill out one or two and I was told only one. I got a check for the smaller amount from them weeks later. It's been a couple of weeks so last week I asked again, are you sure I need to fill out only one set of paperwork and was emailed again only one set of paperwork days later. This morning there's another email from them saying I need to fill out a second packet for contract -----. I can NOT talk to a human even though I've called several times. I've been dealing with them for 2 MONTHS!
