This business charged me $1,175 for materials for installing a hot tub. After watching the installation, I saw the only materials used were some copper wire and PVC pipe. So I called the owner, *******************, to ask him about the $1,175 for materials. He went into a long explanation about how this was a 60amp hot tub and the price of copper wire for this kind of hot tub more than tripled from $6/foot to $20/foot. Sounded plausible. Then I tried to independently verify the $20/foot cost but I couldnt. So I asked ******************* if he wouldnt mind sending me the receipts for the wire. After ignoring my first couple of text requests, he finally said he doesnt provide customers with receipts for materials purchased. I said thats interesting because I couldnt verify his $20/foot claim. Then he responded that he never told me it was $20/foot.This is a dishonest man who wildly overcharges for his work.

This customers review - we'll call him "************" is entirely false and a complete lie, he also failed to include many important details to his 'story'. **I'm going to preface this response to ****************'s review, with the fact that we contacted the BBB before submitting it, informing them we have plenty of proof we could send in to show eveything ************ is saying is a lie, however, the BBB says consumers can post whatever they want, whether it be neutral, positive, or negative, and apparently FALSE. To our future customers, please keep that in mind when reading this and other BBB review's of a company. People can literally post what ever they want, truth or lie.Back to the story: **************** called me on Monday, Jan 23, 2023, stating he needed an estimate for his new hot tub wiring and that the hot tub was going to be delivered on the following Monday 1/30/23. I scheduled to meet with him on Thursday, Jan 26, 2023 (for free) to take a look at what it would take to get him up and running. I met him, as coordinated, on 1/26/23. I emailed him a (free) detailed/itemized proposal, which listed our labor and material costs as well as the permit and inspection fees, on Friday, 1/27/23. He never responded to my email. I called ****************, Monday 1/30/23, in the morning asking him if he wanted us to come out to wire the hot tub, because I hadn't heard from him, and he said yes, he wanted us to come out and get it taken care of for him. We obtained the electrical permit, wired the hot tub, and at the end of the day when we were done, he wrote my crew on site a check for the exact amount we proposed to do the work for via email, no questions asked. A day or two later **************** called me questioning our material pricing, which I explained further over the phone, and he seemed to understand. On Feb 24 I spoke with **************** to coordinate the final electrical inspection with the county, at that time he requested I bring all of my material receipts because he was still questioning our material prices. (Which was emailed to him before we ever started the job) I did not provide our material receipts to him, nor would any other contractor out there, that is just not an industry practice. Our final electrical inspection (which passed, because we're great electricians) was set up for Feb 28, 2023. On March 2, 2023, ************** R texted me out of the blue demanding my receipts for the wire we used. I had my supplier send me a copy of the material list with costs and I texted that to him on March 3, 2023, as requested. I have not heard from him since. Our quoted material price on the electrical proposal we sent him was $1175.00 our actual material cost from our supplier was $1037.38, which didn't even include one section of wire we used. Any sane person would realize that that is not an exorbitant ******************* up. And again, all of our pricing was quoted to him upfront, before beginning work. His claims of all we used was 'copper wire and some pvc' is also incorrect. We in fact used 2 types of copper wire, conduit, pvc, fittings, straps, a breaker and other miscellaneous items. It should also be noted that his hot tub was 60 amps which is larger than your typical hot tub and takes a heavier gauge copper wire, which is more expensive. We wire 100+ hot tubs per year and have never had a bad review or complaint about our pricing. Some people just can't be pleased and/or are crazy and/or are liars. Please call Legacy Electrical at ************ for all of your electrical needs!! We do a great job on hot tubs!! :)
